(Toady) Whitehead, 46, was held Wednesday, March 6, in the Colonial Funeral Home by the Rev. Warren F. Taylor, pastor of Smithfield Baptist Church. Burial was in St. Luke's Memorial park with Masonic rites at the grave. Whitehead, of 210 Red Point Drive died Monday afternoon on arrival at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Rose Drewry Whitehead and the son of Mrs. Frances Kitchen Joyner and the late Roland Lee Whitehead. He owned and operated the Whitehead Barber Shop in Smithfield 14 years. He attended Smithfield Baptist Church and was past master o Smithfield Union Masonic Lodge 18. Besides his widow and mother, survivors include two daughters, Miss Donna Lee Whitehead and Miss Frances Lynette Whitehead and a son, Wendell Chris Whitehead, all of the home; one sister, Miss Dorothy Whitehead of Silver Springs, Md. and two brothers, Roland E. Whitehead of Franklin and Claiborne Y. Whitehead of Decatur, Ga.; one stepbrother, J.C. Joyner of Franklin and a stepfather, C.T. Joyner of Courtland.
