Mr. Whitley was the son of the late James and Polly Atkins Whitley of Isle of Wight county and husband of Mrs. Viola Grace Whitley of Zuni who survived him. He was a member of the Central Hill Baptist Church. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Howard R. Freeman of Smithfield and Miss Louise Irene Whitley of Zuni; five sons, Woodrow Wilson Whitley of Central Hill, Robert Frederick Whitley of Wakefield, Marvin Whitley of Franklin, David and George Francis Whitley of Zuni; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. E.N. Edwards and Mrs. Eustic Carr both of Suffolk, and Mrs. Eddie Vellines of Smithfield. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of W.J.M. Holland and Sons of Franklin. Burial was scheduled today following funeral services at Central Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert F. Wyatt and the Rev. R.D. Stephenson officiating.
