Mrs. Jesse Whitley Buried Dec. 4 At Central Hill 

  Mrs. Mattie Nelms Whitley, 72, died December 2, 1959, in the home of her 
son, Welton R. Whitley, in Suffolk. 

  She was the widow of Jesse Whitley and a daughter of the late Matthew T. and 
Mrs. Virginia Wellons Nelms. 

  She was a native of Isle of Wight County and had made her home in Suffolk 
for the past nine years.  She was a member of the Central Hill Baptist Church. 

  In addition to Mr. Whitley, she is survived by another son, C. Edwin Whitley 
of Windsor; a daughter, Mrs. J. Walter Claude of Suffolk; a brother, Roger 
Nelms of Windsor; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 

  Funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, December 4, in the Bullock 
Funeral Home.  Burial was in the Central Hill Cemetery.
