Thomas D. Sutton of Mt. Carmel Christian Church. Burial was in St. Luke’s Church cemetery near Smithfield. Pallbearers were David Whitley, Carlton Williams, Willie Taylor, William Baker, Lewis Baker, Elmo Pittman, Jack Pond and J.R. Simms Jr. Mrs. Williams, 72, died Wednesday afternoon in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin. A native of Rich Square, N.C., she was a member of New Hope Methodist Church of Northampton County, N.C. She was a daughter of Ralph and Mrs. Susan Brown Askew and the wife of Steve Douglas [sic; Dallas] Williams of Sedley. Besides her husband, surviving are a son, Gilbert Lee Williams of Courtland; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Page Hill of Capron and Mrs. Evelyn Cabell of Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Ollie A. Baker, Severn, N.C.; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Mattie (ASKEW; Mrs. "Steve" Stephen D.)
