WARREN FUNERAL TODAY George Hiram Warren, a prominent citizen of Burwell's Bay, died Tuesday at 12:00 o'clock at his home, after an illness of about three weeks. Mr. Warren was born November 14th, 1856 in Surry County where he lived until young manhood, at one time serving as Sheriff of the County. He then moved to Isle of Wight County where the greater portion of his life was spent. On December 21, 1880, he was married to Miss Susan Frances Latimer who died in 1914. He is survived by three children, Mrs. J.R. Rowell, Jr., and Dr. Hugh Warren of Smithfield and T. Latimer Warren of Burwell's Bay, also six grandchildren. Also four sisters, Mrs. Lee Gwaltney, Mrs. M.V. Sykes, Mrs. Tela Bell, and Mrs. B.F. Dews, all of this county; two brothers, Mr. C.C. Warren of Baltimore and Mr. Tom Warren of Waverly. Mr. Warren was an influential citizen of the county, active in community, civic and religious affairs. He was a Justice of the Peace and engaged in the business of farming. He was a member of the Bacon's Castle Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon (today) at 2:30 o'clock at the home at Burwell's Bay, conducted by Rev. L.F. Paulette, pastor of the Smithfield Baptist church. Interment will be in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Smithfield. The active pallbearers are Henry Sykes, Koscoe Sykes, Webster Sykes, Stanley Gwaltney, Joe Bell, Oscar Coulbourn, Granville Starke, Robert Remick, Pat DeHart. Honorary pallbearers are E.H. Williams, George F. Whitley, Gus Edwards, Colgate Whitehead, J.W. Thomas, Lee Crumpler, C.E. Davis, E.R. Laine, Hoyt Haverty, J.W. Cofer, W.P. Wilson, Jim Barlow, Capt. Marshall, Dr. Rea Parker, Wm. Hunnicutt, W.F. Rife, W.P. Warren, Warren Wilson.
