Dear Mrs. Holland: 

          We have been trying to help Mr. Willie Lee Jones to 
secure a birth certificate.  He gives the names of his parents 
as Robert Crawford Jones and Nola Warren Jones. 

          We have a record which we believe is intended as a 
registration of his birth.  However, the name of his father is 
shown on this registration as Wallace instead of Robert.  We had 
hoped to be able to refer to his parents marriage record and use 
this as our authority to make the correction in his father's 
name on the birth registration.  However, we find that the color 
of Robert Crawford Jones and Nola Warren Jones was given on the 
marriage license as colored.  They were married on March 12, 1879 
in Isle of Wight County.  We shall appreciate it if you will refer 
to your register and give us on the bottom of this letter the 
color shown for this couple. 

          If the color is shown as white, we will make the cor-
rection on our record here. 

          We shall appreciate your help in this matter.
