I, Henry Applewhite of the County of Isle of Wight in Virginia being at this time in perfect sense and memory I do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in Manner and form as followeth Item- I do give unto my son, John Applewhite a parcel of land which I bought from Richard Kingsby estimation one hundred and ten acres and also another parcell of land on the other side of the main road and facing the other above parcell and running from the cart path to Boddies line according to the line that I have marked to the land that parts that road and Boddies, I give it to him and his heirs forever but if my son John Applewhite should die without heirs then it is my will and pleasure that it should descend to my son Arthur and his heirs. Item - I do give unto my son, John Applewhite, one Negro boy called Jack I do also give unto my son John one bottle silver tankard and to the heirs of his body and in want of such heirs to be returned to my daughter Sarah Applewhite at his death. I do also give unto my son John one square cedar table. Item- I give unto my son Arthur Applewhite the plantation I now live on to him and his heirs after his Mother’s decease I do also give him my Plantation at Nottoway the Plantation whereon my Negroes now live lying between the cyprus and cedar swamps and also that slip of land which lyeth along the cedar swamp joining upon the Plantation of the going over to that plantation whereon the widow Mary Applewhite now dwells so running down that said swamp to my last corner tree. I give these lands to my son Arthur and to his heirs. I also do give to my son Arthur Applewhite onr negro man called Sam and one negro woman called Phillis and her increase. I do also give unto my son Arthur Applewhite all the cattle and hogs that may be upon above plantation at Nottaway at the time of my decease on the condition that he shall during his mother’s life every year pay her four pounds of merchantable pork to be delivered to her upon the plantation I now dwell upon. I do also give to him one feather bed and furniture six pewter dishes one iron pot and pot hooks and three silver spoons Item- I do give unto my daughter Sarah Applewhite one negro boy called Lewis and one negro girl called Flurdey. I do give these two Negroes and increase unto her and her heirs. I do also give unto my daughter Sarah six pewter dishes, one feather bed and furniture and four silver spoons. Item- I-do give unto my granddaughter Ann Applewhite daughter of son Thomas one Negro boy, called Frost Item- I do give unto my daughter Amy Davis, two Negroes viz one Negro boy called George and one Negro Girl called Lydia to her and her heirs forever. I do also give to her one large silver tumbler. Item- I do give unto my daughter Priscilla Ridley one silver tumbler and one silver spoon. Item- I do give unto my daughter Ann Godwin two Negro Boy called Dick and Jemmy to her and her heirs forever and in want of such heirs it is my will and pleasure that the Negro boy called Jemmy shall descend to my son Thomas Applewhite and his heirs and the other Negro boy called Dick to my daughter Sarah Applewhite I do also give my daughter, Ann Godwin. three silver spoons Item-I do give unto my grandson Henry Applewhite my Plantation which I bought of Thomas Brown with all the land thereto belonging and also that survey of land I made adjoining to the Plantation that strip of land exempted before by me given to my son Arthur Applewhite to. Item my will and desire that my Negro man called Napper shall remain n with Mary Applewhite upon the Plantation she now dwells upon so long time as she shall remain unmarried but if she marries then it is my will and pleasure that the said Negro man shall return to my loving wife Ann Applewhite to be disposed of as she shall think proper. Item I do give and Bequeath to my loving Wife Ann Applewhite three Negro men, called Sharper, Pompy and Gary. I do also give her two Negro women called Moll and Sue and one Negro boy called Charles during her natural life and at her decease my wife to give those Negroes to such of my children as she may think fitting to do. And as for the remainder of my estate be it in what kind soever after my just debts are paid I give unto my loving wife for her to dispose of amongst my children as she may see fitting to do. I also make and ordain my loving wife Ann Applewhite my whole and sole Executor of my last will and Testament.
