I Henry Applewhite of the Isle of Wight County In Virginia being in a very sick and weak condition but I thank almighty God in perfect mind and memory. I do make and ordain this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form as followeth. First, I Command my soul unto God my maker and Creator and Redeemer and my body for to be decently buried at my plantation which I now give to my son. Henry Applewhite that he now live on in manner and form as followeth. Item- I give and bequeath unto my son Henry Applewhite all my lands that I bought of Edmund Palmer to him during his natural life and after his decease to his male heirs of his body lawfully begotten for ever and for want of male heirs then to the female heir lawfully begotten forever as aforesaid and if my son Henry Applewhite should die without any such heir or heirs as God forbid then for to fall to the surviving son of mine or his lawfully begotten of his body for ever and for want of such still for to the surviving of my children and their children for ever Item- I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Applewhite the one half of the tract of land at Blackwater where John Davis now live on which formerly conveyed to him by me he having the plantation in his possession of if I say. I give it to my son Thomas Applewhite during his natural life and after his decease to his male heirs lawfully begotten for ever and for want of male heir to the female heirs for ever lawfully begotten as aforesaid. And if my son Thomas Applewhite should die without any such heirs as God forbid then to fall to the surviving son of mine or his male or female heirs for ever as aforesaid. Item- I give and bequeath to my son William Applewhite the other half of this above mentioned tract of land which I ordain it should be equally and fairly divided according to ye quantity & quality thereof or in E_____ as afore mentioned to my son Thomas Applewhite for to have the plantation in his part. I say I give and bequeath this herein mentioned tract of land to my son William Applewhite during his natural life and after his decease to the male heirs lawfully begotten of his body for ever and for want of male heirs to the female heirs begotten as aforesaid for ever. And if my son William Applewhite should die as God forbid without heirs then his part for to fall to the surviving of my children and their heirs for ever. And I do further will and also desire if any of my sons that is to say Henry, Thomas, William and John Applewhite should die without heirs that or parcell of land should peacefully fall to my daughter Ann Applewhite and the heirs of her body male or female for ever although I have not said so in the upper clauses of my Will. Item- I give unto my son Henry Applewhite my great Bible Item- I give unto my son Thomas Applewhite my signett Ring Item- I give and bequeath to my son William Applewhite my silver hilted Rapier and Belt Item- I give unto my son John Applewhite my silver headed cane Item- I give unto my daughter Ann Applewhite six silver spoons Item- I give unto my son Henry Applewhite my Book Dalton Item- I do give and bequeath unto my son John Applewhite the one half of my lands at pasture ___ during his natural life and at his decease to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten for ever, and for want of such heirs to the as herein mentioned. Item- I do give and bequeath unto my grandson Henry Applewhite the other half of my land in the Pasture ___ to him during his natural life and then to the heirs of his body begotten for ever and for want of such heirs to the surviving brother and heirs for ever. I say it shall be divided according to quantity and quality. I do desire that all my Just debts be paid and also I make my dear and loving wife my whole and sole Executrix and also I desire that my son Henry Applewhite doth assist as to her business and I revoke all other wills and do make this my Last Will and Testimony as witnessed my hand and seal August ye 26 1703 Signed Sealed and Delivered Henry Applewhite "H" his mark In presence of John ______ John Hood Addison Street *note witnesses made their marks Proved in open court held for ye Isle of Wight County the 9 May 1704 by the oath of all the Witnesses and ordered to be admitted to Record.
