All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ==================================================================== Isle of Wight, VA Will and Deed Book 9, Page 129-131 In the Name of God Amen, I William Bell of Isle of Wight County and Colony of Virginia, being sick and weak in body but of Perfice and Sound Mind & Memory, do make and Ordain This my last will and Testament in manner and form as followeth Viz: ITEM: I give and bequeath to my Son Elisha Bell the Plantation & Improvements I now live on Containing 200 Acres more or less also one Negro Wench Named Sarah one small chest & one Cow and Calf & half my still the other half to my son James Bell to each of them and their heirs or assigns now forever. ITEM: I give & bequeath to my son William Bell one Round Walnut Table One Case & eight bottles one cow & Calf & One pair of Stillings to him & His heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Nancy Bell One Negro boy named Willis also one young Major One nobler one small trunk one large trunk 6 plates 2 Dishes two Basons & one Cow & Calf & one side saddle to her & her heirs or assigns forever. ITEM: I give & bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Cole five shillings to her & her heirs forever. ITEM: I give and bequeath unto William Smith, Son of Benjamin Smith twenty shillings to him & his heirs forever, and it is my desire that the Rest of my personal Estate not heretofore mentioned may be sold to the highest bidder, without being appraised & the money equally divided between & amongst my four children hereafter mentioned William Bell, Elisha Bell, James Bell & Nancy Bell to them & their forever and I hereby Constitute & appoint Wm. And Elisha Bell exors. To this my Last Will and Testament Given under my hand & seal this 8th day of August Anno Domini 1780. Signed, Sealed & Delivered in Presence of William Bell, Seal Wm. Blunt Jehue Bound Isaac Moody At a Court held for Isle of Wight County November the 1st 1781 This Will was presented in Court and presented by the Oaths of Jehu Bownd and Isaac Moody two of the Witnesses hereto, and delivered to be Recorded, and at a Court held for the said County the 2d day of May 1782 Elisha Bell one of the Executors therein named came into Court and made Oath to the said Will according to law. Who together with Robert Edwards and George Hall his Security Entered into the Acknowledged their Bond in the penalty of Fifteen hundred pounds with condition as the law directs Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form, and libility is reserved. Wm. Bell the other Executor there in named to him in the probate when he shall think it fit within the limits of the law.
