Amen I William Boykin being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory praise be therefore given to almighty God do ordain this my present last will & testament in manner and form following; (that is to say) First and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God – hoping thro merits death & passion of my Savior Jesus Christ (abreviated Ct) to have full and free pardon of all my sins and to inherit ever lasting life and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my executor here after named. As touching the disposition of all such temporal estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I give & dispose as followeth. First: I will that all my debts and funeral charges be paid & discharged. ITEM: I give unto my loving wife Margaret Boykin the use of the plantation whereon I now live and all the lands there unto belonging. Beginning at mouth of the Cattail Branch and so up Tuckers Swamp to the fourth Branch which said Branch being the first Branch below the Plantation I bought of Thomas Boykin and so up the said Branch to the line quantity in all about one hundred & twenty acres during her natural life and after her death I give the same to my son Simon Boykin and his heirs for ever. ITEM: I give & bequeath to my son William Boykin the two hundred & forty acres of land at Roanoak that I bought of James Spears to him my said William Boykin and his heirs for ever. ITEM: I give to my son William Boykin seven cows and eight heifers out of my part of the stock that John Bruce has at Fishing Creek to raise at halves to him my said son William Boykin and his heirs for ever. ITEM: I give & bequeath to my son John Boykin of Plantation Page 322 And the land I bought of my brother Thomas Boykin beginning at the Branch below the Plantation and so up the swamp to the second Branch above said Plantation and so up ??? said Branch till it winds off and then strait to the line quantity in all about one hundred & forty acres to him my son said John Boykin and his heirs for ever. ITEM: I give & bequeath unto my son Thomas Boykin all my land in the fork of Tuckers Swamp, also a patent for one hundred eighty acres of land where John Philips formerly lived to him my said son Thomas Boykin and his heirs for ever. ITEM: I give unto my daughter Martha Boykin twenty pounds current money to her my daughter Martha Boykin and her heirs for ever ITEM: I give unto my loving wife Margaret Boykin the use of my Negro Man named George during her natural life or widowhood and after her death or marriage I give the said Negro - George to my son Simon Boykin and his heirs for ever. ITEM: I give and bequeath to my sons William, John, Thomas and Simon Boykin five hundred acres of land in my patent at Fishing Creek in North Carolina to be equaly divided to them my said sons William, John, Thomas and Simon and their heirs for ever. Insert: ITEM: I give and bequeath unto my loving friend John Bruce one hundred acres of land in my patent at Fishing Creek in North Carolina to him that said John Bruce and his heirs for ever. ITEM: All rest & ressidue of my goods, chattels & personal estate whatsoever I give to my loving wife Margaret Boykin and my sons William Boykin, John Boykin, Thomas Boykin, Simon Boykin and my daughter Martha Boykin to be equally divided to them my wife Margaret, my sons William, John, Thomas, Simon and my daughter Martha Boykin and their heirs for ever. And I do make, Constitute & ordain my loving wife Margaret Boykin my whole & sole executrix of this my last will & testament. Revoking, disannulling and making void all other wills & testaments here to fore made by me. In Witness where of I have put my hand and seal to this my present last will & testament this 19 day of June 1731. The last will & testament of William Boykin deceased was presented in court by Margaret Boykin his relict & executrix who made oath thereto (according to law) and being likewise proved by the oath of the witnesses thereto it is admitted to record.
