Isle of Wight County Virginia USGenWeb Archives Wills David CARR, will, 1822 In the name of God Amen I David Carr of the county of Isle of Wight and State of Virginia being weak in body at present but of sound mind and memory, thanks be to God for the same and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, Vizt: first of all I desire that all my lawful debts and funeral charges to be paid and discharged ~ Item I lend the use of all my land and plantation also the remainder of my estate to my beloved Wife Amy Carr during her single to raise and support my Children on, but if she should Marry then I desire that my Wife Amy Carr to draw one third part of my estate both real and personal ~ then the remainder of my estate both real and personal to be equally divided between my six Children namely, Solomon Carr, Hardy Carr, Elizabeth Carr, Mary Carr, David Carr, Jonathan Carr to them and their heirs forever ~ Lastly I do nominate and appoint my brother Nathan Carr my whole and Sole executor of this my last Will & Testament revoking all other Wills heretofore made by me void ~ Given under my hand & Seal this 25th day of August 1822 ~ Signed Sealed and pronounced} In Presence of us } his Jones Griffin David X Carr Nathan Johnson mark Parker Beal his John X Carr mark At a Court held for Isle of Wight County the 2.nd day of December 1822 ~ The last Will and Testament of David Carr was presented in Court by Nathan Carr the executor therein named, and the same being proved by the oaths of Jones Griffin. Nathan Johnson and Parker Beal three of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
