Will of John Fulgham, 1701 - Isle of Wight County, VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Record of Wills, Deeds, Etc., Vol. 2, pp. 535-36 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [brackets, line breaks, & surname capitalization mine] In the Name of God Amen: I John FULGHAM of the Isle of Wight County, being being [sic] weak of Body, but of sound and pfect mined and Memory, praise be given therefore to Almighty God do make and ordaine this my last Will and testament in Manner and form following: that is to Say: First and principally, I commend my Soul into the hands of God and I commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Ex': thereafter Named, and as touching the dispSition of all my temporal Estate, wch hath pleased God Almighty to bestow Upon me, I give and dispose thereof as followeth// First I will that all my D:ts and Funerall Charges shall be payed and discharged- Item I give unto my Son John FULGHAM and to the heires of his Body lawfully begotten: for Ever all the land w:th-in the following bounds: begining at a Corner tree of Francis WILLIAMSON and running down a branch called the long branch, to the Runn of the Swamp thence down the said Runn to the Maine Runn of the Maine blackwater Swamp, thence Up the Maine Runn to my line thence on my line to the first Station w:th all manner of priviledges of Houses: Gardens: Orchards: wood waies waters and all appurtenances belonging or that may belong to the said land/ Item I give unto my Son Anthony FULGHAM and to the heires of his Body lawfully begotten for Ever: all the land w:th-in the following bounds: (Viz.t) begining in a Swamp at the [page break] mouth of a branch Called the forked branch, and running Up the said Swamp to my line thence on my lines to the said forked branch and downe it to the first Station w:th all manner of priviledges of houses Garden orchards Wood waies waters and all other appurten'ces thereto belonging or that may belong to the said land// Item I give unto my Son Michall FULGHAM and to the heires of his Body lawfully begotten for Ever: all the land w:th-in the following bounds: (Viz.t) beginning at the Mouth of a Branch called the forked branch thence running downe the Maine of a Swamp to the Maine Runn of the Maine blacke water Swamp and down the Runn of the said Swamp to my line thence on my lines to the forked Branch and downe itt to the first Station w:th all manner of priviledges of houses Garden Orchards Wood waies waters and all other Royalties and Appurten'ces thereto belonging or that may belong to the said land- Item I give to my loveing loveing [sic] Wife Anne the plantation whereon I now live bounded Viz.t begining at a Corner tree of Francis WILLIAMSONs and running thence downe a branch called the long branch to the Maine runn of a Swamp and Up the said runn to my line then on my lines to the first station w:th all and Singular the houses Edifices Gardens Orchards Woods waies waters and all other Apurten'ces thereto belonging or that may belong to the said land to be held and Enjoyed by my said Wife during her Naturall life [illegible] and Immediately after the departure of her Naturall life the said land and all the said priviledges above mentioned to my Wife to be my Son Edmond FULGHAMs and the heires of his body lawfully begoten for Ever, and if my Son Edmond die without male heires: then my Will & intent is that his part shall be my Son Johns and if my Son John die without such heires his part to fall to Edmond: and if my Son Anthony die without such heires then his part to fall to my Son Michall: and if my Son Michall die w:th out such heires then his part to fall to my Son Anthony and Soe to fall them and from them to the heires of theire Bodies lawfully Begotten: for Ever// All the rest and residue of my pSonal Estate, Goods, and Chattels w.t Soever I give and bequeath to my loveing Wife Anne whome I appoint and make my Sole and whole Ex'x of this my last Will & Testament// And I do hereby revoke disanull and make Void all former Wills and testaments by me heretofore made or spoken of, in Wittness whereof I the said John FULGHAM to this my last Will and testament do Set my hand the 7.th day of June 1701 John FULGHAM // Geo: WILLIAMSON Fras: WILLIAMSON William WEST: [no probate record attached] Submitted by Matthew W.
