Isle of Wight County, VA - Wills - Will of John HOLLIDAY October 5, 1786 ***************** Isle of Wight, VA Will Book 10 Page 56 In the name of God Amen I John Holliday of the Isle of Wight County and parish of Newport being in sound and perfect memory do make and Ordain this to be my last Will and Testament. In manner and form following. Item I lend unto my loving wife the use of my land and still after the death of my mother or day of marriage during her natural life and after my wife's marriage or death I give to my son Joseph Holliday and his heirs forever. [ ] I also leave my negro girl Fan to be sold and the remainder of my estate as my wife [Adm.] [ ] best to pay my debts, and the remainder I give to my wife to bring up the children and I also leave my wife and Dempsey Hunt the hole and sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 21st day of November, 1785. John Holliday (seal) Signed Sealed and Delivered and declared by the said John Holliday to be his last Will and Testament in presence of Thomas Hall Ralph Hunt Samuel Holliday At a Court held for Isle of Wight County the 5th day of October 1786 this Will was presented in Court by Elizabeth Holliday, the Executrix therein named who made oath thereto. According to law and the same being proved by the oaths of Ralph Hunt and Samuel Holliday two of the witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of the said Executrix who together with Josh. Hunt her security entered into and acknowledged his bond in the penalty of Five Hundred Pounds with condition as the law directs.
