Thomas JOHNSON, will, Nov 1807 (proved 1 Feb 1808)

  In the name of God amen, I Thomas Johnson of the County 
of Isle of Wight and parish of Newport  being sick and weak in 
body  but of perfect and sound memory thank be given to 
Almighty God, and Considering the mortallity of this Mortal life to [sic; do] make and 
ordain this my last will and testament, in manner and form following  first and 
                                                          the 
principally, I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of ^ Almighty God 
my Creator hopeing through the pleasure Almughty God to bless me with, 
I Give devise and dispose thereof as followeth ___ I Give and bequeath 
to Lucy Mountford thirty pounds the same to her and her heirs forever ~ 
Item  I Give and bequeath to John Powell Johnson all my Wright in the 
land which I live on, which I bought of Cass and Wester the same to him 
and his heirs forever _  Item  I Give bequeath to John Powel Johnson my lands 
which I purchased of Drew Bracey and John Bracy likewise two negroes 
(Vizt.) Lewis and tom also thirty pounds to give him schooling, the same to him 
and his heirs forever _  Item  I give and bequeath to Bicky Powel Johnson 
thirty pounds the same to her and her heirs forever __  Item  I Give and 
bequeath to Delila P, Johnson thirty pounds the same to her and her 
heirs forever ~  Item  I leave my lands in Southampton to be sold and 
the remainder part of my estate that is not already Given away to be 
sold and the money arising from the same to be equally divided between 
John P, Johnson  Beckey P, Johnson, and Delila P, Johnson, after paying 
the Debts the same to them and their heirs forever ~  Lastly, I make, Constitute 
Ordain and appoint John Lawrence my whole and sole Executor of this 
this my last will and testament as best, Revoking and Disannulling all other 
will or wills by me heretofore made or declared ~  In Witness whereof 
I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this day of November 
one thousand eight hundred and seven _______ _________

     Stephen Johnson         }   At a court held for Isle of Wight County the 
     James Johnson           }   1st. day of February 1808 - This Will 
   ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ    was presented in court by John Lawrence 
the Executor therein named who made Oath thereto according to law ~ and 
the same being proved by the oaths Robert Lawrence Stephen Johnson and 
James Johnson the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded ~  And on the motion 
of the said Executor who together with ^ his security entered into and acknowledged 
their bond in the penalty of five thousand dollars with Condition as the 
law directs, certificate is granted him for obtaining}  Teste  Nathl. Young  cc
