Jordan, of Carrollton, Isle of Wight Co. Va. Being of sound mind and memory. Do make this will and declare this to be my last will and testament in the manner following. That is to say. 1st. First. I to my son Josiah W. Jordan, Jr. as much as it will cost to have my name, date of birth and death, cut on the South side of the Monument at the head of my Wife's grave. 2nd. I give to my daughter Mattie G. Jordan what stock I owm in the Home Telephone Company the Smithfield Farmers Inc. and the Va. Power and Light Co. This is for service rendered as housekeeper. 3rd. I give and bequeath to my seven children or their heirs All the rest of my property both Real and Personal, to be equally divided between the Seven, namely Agnes Jordan Batten, Josiah W. Jordan, Jr. Robert Blackwell Jordan, Fannie Jordan Nottingham, Nannie Jordan Barlow, Mattie G. Jordan, Lilie Jordan Coles. 4th. I appoint my son Josiah W. Jordan to be executor of this will. And I request the Court to allow him to qualify, without giving security. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 23rd day of March 1928. Josiah W. Jordan (SEAL) Witness: L.M. Latimer. Jordan, deceased, was this day presented for probate by the Executor therein named, and there being only one subscribing witness thereto, L.M. Latimer and James Raleigh Gale, competent witnesses were duly sworn and severally deposed, that they were well acquainted with the handwriting of the said J. W. Jordan and verily believe that the said paper writing, together with the name thereto signed, to have been wholly written by the hand of the said J. W. Jordan.
