The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net *********************************************************************** Isle of Wight Co., VA, Will Book 23 (1844-1847), pp. 90-91 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [brackets, line breaks & surname capitalization mine] In the name of God Amen: I James JOHNSON Sn.r of the County of Isle of Wight and State of Virginia being far Advanced in life and weak in body, but of Sound mind and disposing Memory (for which I thank God) and calling to Mind the uncertainty of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all Such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the Same in manner following Viz. 1.st Item I give to my son James JOHNSON a part of my Fulgham tract of land Containing by estimation one hundred and ten Acres and bounded as follows begining at a maple Standing in the line between my land and Hardy CHAPMAN's from thence along a line of marked trees between myself and Hardy CHAPMAN to Blackwater run, now a corner tree between myself and my Son James JOHNSON, thence along a line of Marked trees between myself and son James JOHNSON, to the horse swamp, thence up said swamp to a white oak a corner tree, thence up a ditch to a gum Standing on said ditch, thence along a line of Marked trees to the Maple Named in the commencement, Standing in Hardy CHAPMAN's line, also I give to my Son James JOHNSON one negro man named Dawson with the land as above named to him and his heirs forever. 2.nd Item I give to my son Lewis JOHNSON all of my land not given to my Son James JOHNSON, which is estimated at three hundred Acres more or less also my old deer gun, brandy Still cap and worm to him and his heirs forever. [page break] [p.] (91) 3.rd Item I give to my daughter Sally JENKINS one negro girl: named Carolina with her increase to her and her heirs forever. 4.th Item I give to my grand Son Arthur JOHNSON my Small Squirrel gun to him and his heirs forever. 5.th Item I give to my grand son Hardy CHAPMAN my new deer gun to him and his heirs forever_ 6.th Item I give to my son Lewis JOHNSON one negro man named Robin to him and his heirs forever_ 7.th Item I give to my sons James & Lewis JOHNSON all my wearing Apparrel to them and their heirs forever_ 8.th Item I give the remainder of my estate not disposed of in this Will, to my three children Viz.
