Devised July 14, 1713, Proven April 25, 1715. In the Name of God amen I William Mayo Senr of the Lower parrish of the Isle of Wight County in the year of our Lord god 1713 According to the Competation of the Church of England Being Sick weak of Body but in perfect Senc and memory praised be to God for itt I do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament in manner and forme as followeth. Viz: Imprimis I Bequeath my Soul into the hands of God that Gave it my maker hopeing that through the meritorious death and passion of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer to Receive free pardon of all my Sins and as for my Body to be buryed in a Christian burial att the Discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned. first Item I Give and bequeath unto my Son William Mayo all my Land Lying on the East Side of Nottoway Swamp to him and the heires of his Body Lawfully Begotten and for want of Such heires then to James Mayo and the heires of his Body as aforesaid and for want of Such heires to the next heire at Law. 2ly Item I give unto my Son James Mayo one Neck of Land that is Called The Broad Neck beginning at Edward Goodson’s Corner tree Runing along the line out of the Cabbin Swamp or branch then Down the Swamp or Branch unto Nottoway Swamp and So to Include the afore Said Neck of Land to him and the heires of his Body Lawfully begotten and for want of Such heires then to Return to William Mayo and the heires of his Body as afore Sd and for want of Such heires then to the next Surviving heir at Law. 31y Item I give unto my Son John Mayo one Neck of land lying on the west Side of Nottoway Swamp beginning at a live Oak a Corner Tree in Nottoway Swamp So Running the Various Courses of the Patent to Peters Branch and down the Same branch to Nottoway Swamp and up the Swamp to the afore Said live Oak to him and the heires of his Body Lawfully begotten and for want of Such heires then to be Peter Mayos and the heires of his Body Begotten as afore Sd and for want of Such heires to the Next Surviving heir at Law. 4 y Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Peter Mayo all the Rest of my Land on Nottoway Swamp it lying between the fore Sd Branch Called Peters Branch and the Cabbin branch to him and the heires of his Body Lawfully begotten and for want of Such heires then to Return to John Mayo and the heires of his Body as afore Sd. 5ly Item I Give to my Loving wife Isabel Mayo that plantation whereon I now Dwell to her During her Natural Life. 61y Item I Give to my youngest Daughter Mary Mayo my manner plantation after her Mothers Decease for Ever. 7ly Item I Give to my Son Peter Mayo all my land from Dumpling Island Branch to Bridgman Joyners line to him and his heires for Ever. 81y Item I Give and bequeath three hundred Sixty and Six Acres of land Lying on King Sail and the Beaver Dam Swamp to my Son John and my Daughters Margret and Patience to be Equally Devided to them and their heires for Ever. 91y Item I Give unto my Son William Mayo my horse a mare with Eight head of Cattle three Young Cows and three heifers going on Three yeares old and Two Steares of three Yeares old and one Steare of Six years old 4 pewter Dishes and 4 pewter plates all new with one Bed and one Iron Pott and five hundred pounds of Tobacco. 10ly Item I Give to my Son James one Rone Colored horse going one of four yeares old and a Silver Tankard and one Gun I Do give it as a Leagasie to him. 11ly Item I Give to my Son John one Young horse going on of three yeares old and the Bed that I Lye on and a Gun the Guns to be both well fixt out of my Plate I give it as a Leagasie. 12ly Item I give to my Son Peter one young horse going on of Two yeares old and as for the Rest of my Worldly Estate after my law full Debts and my funerall Charges payd I give and bequeath to be Equally Devided between my Loving wife Isabell Mayo and my Six other Children as followeth James Mayo, John Mayo, Peter Mayo, Margret Mayo, Patience Mayo, Mary Mayo, whereunto I Do ordain and Constitute my Loving Wife Isabell Mayo and my Brother Bridgman Joyner whole Execurs to this my last will and Testament Revoking all other will or wills before made I give to my Son James one Iron Pott holding about five Gallons I give to my son John one Iron Pott holding a bout three or four Gallons my hone and Rasur I give unto my Son William Mayo I give These as Leagasies As Wittness my hand and Soul This 14th July [--]. The last will and Testament of Wm Mayo was presented in Court by Isabell Mayo his widow & Exrs who made Oath thereto and being proved by the Oathes of the wittnesses is Admitted to Record. Test H.
