Will of Elizabeth MUNFORD, 1790 - Isle of Wight County, VA Isle of Wight Co., VA, Will Book 10 (1785-1796), p. 219 abstracted by Matt HARRIS [brackets, line breaks, & surname capitalization mine] [margin notes] Eliz.a MUNFORD's Will} In the name of God Amen, I Elizabeth MUNFORD of Isle of Wight County being sound mind and memory do make and ordain this to be my last Will and testament in manner and form as followeth (Viz.t) Item 1.st I give and bequeath unto my daughter Silvia HICKS and to her heirs forever, one feather bed and furniture, one poplar chest, one black walnut box, two sitting chairs &c &c which she has now in possession; - Item 2:d I give and bequeath unto my ['daughter'] Mary MUNFORD and to her heirs forever, one feather bed and furniture, the same that is set upon a pine bedstead; Item 3.d I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah MUNFORD, one feather bed and furniture, the same that I usually lie on, to her and to her heirs forever- Item 4th: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Nancy MUNFORD and to her heirs forever one feather bed and furniture that usually stands by the West door- Item 5th I give and bequeath unto my son Micajah MUNFORD, and to his heirs forever my large Copper Kettle, and if the said Kettle should not be thought equal in value to a feather bed and furniture; I desire that three indifferent may consider the ods, and the same to be made out of my other estate Item 6th: I lend the use of part of my land, unto my three daughters (Viz.t) Mary, Sarah and Nancy MUNFORD, during the time that they live single, the said piece of land, as bounded as followeth (Viz.t) begining at a corner tree on Sarah CORNWELL's line, to the south corner of my Orchard, thence a direct course to the lower corner of the Orchard thence a direct course to James DEFORD's line, at the foot of the path that leads from hers to the said DEFORD's house thence along the said DEFORD's line to the first station; together with the use of my Kitchen house if required for it to be removed to the said piece of land, - Item 7th. I give and bequeath unto my son Micajah MUNFORD and to his heirs forever all the remainder part of my land, and the appurtenances thereunto belonging; and at the decease or marriage of my three last named daughters, I give the said land that I have before lent them the use of, to my said son and to his heirs forever;- Item 8th: I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Elizabeth HICKS and to her heirs forever one of my small Heifers; and the first Calf that the said Heifer may bring, I give to my grand daughter Elizabeth HICKS and to her heirs forever; Item 9th. after my Just debts and legacies are paid, I give all the remaining part of my estate, to be equally divided among my four children (Viz.t) Sarah, Mary, Micajah, and Nancy MUNFORD and their heirs forever;- Item 10th. lastly I constitute and appoint my son Micajah MUNFORD my whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand, and affixed my seal, this 29th day of December D. 1790~ Elizabeth MUNFORD *L.S.* + her mark Signed, Sealed, & Acknowledged} in presence of----------------} Ja.s HOLLIMAN Zachariah PHILLIPS James DEFORD At a Court held for Isle of Wight County the 2.d day of January 1792.
