Last Will and Testament of Miles Wills Believing my Mental faculties to be as perfect as they have ever been And being blessed with a tranquil State of mind I make my Last Will and Testament as follows: 1st. I Give my land to my Daughter Martha and her husband Josiah Gray during their Lives and to the Survivor for life and the fee simple of the Land dependant upon these particular Estates herein created I give to my Grandson Miles Wills Gray and his Heirs But should he die without issue living at His death in that event I Give the fee simple of my Land with a reservation of the particular Estate Given to my Daughter Martha and her husband to my Grandson Davis Gray and his Heirs and should Davis Gray die without Issue Living at his Death, in that case I Give the Fee simple of my Land with a reservation of the Estates herein Given to my Daughter Martha and Her husband to my Grandaughters Milly Everitt & Sally Wills Everitt and their Heirs Severally. 2d. I Give my Negro Boy Jim to my Grandaughter Sally Everitt forever. 3d. I Give my Negro Boy Moses to my Grandaughter Milly Everitt forever. 4th. I Give my Negro Boy Will to my Grandson Davis Gray forever, but should my Title to this Negro be defective I Desire that my Executor pay to Davis Gray Twenty pounds of current Money out of the residuary part of my Estate of which I authorise Him to sell as much as may be necessary for this purpose. 5th. I Give my Slaves Lydia and her child and her future increase to my Grandaughter Polly Godwin Gray forever. This Slave Lydia was formerly lent by me to my daughter Sally, Wife of James Gray. 6th. The Residue of my Estate I appropriate to the payment of any Debts and the expences attending the Execution of this my Last Will and Testament, and if after a payment thereof there should remain a surplus, I Give it to my Daughter Martha and her husband Josiah Gray during their Lives and after their deaths I desire that it may be equally Divided between my four Grandchildren, Miles Wills Gray, Sally Wills Everitt, Milly Everitt and Davis Gray or their legal representatives as the Case may be. And lastly I make Josiah Gray Executor of this my Last Will and Testament. IN EVIDENCE whereof, I hereto sign my name and affix my Seal this 25th day of February in the Year of Christ 1796. Robinson Thomas West John Casey At a Court held for Isle of Wight County the 1st Day of October 1798. This Will was presented in Court by Josiah Gray the Excutor therein named who made Oath thereto according to Law and the same being proved by the Oaths of Merit M. Robinson and John Casey two of the Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be Recorded. And on the Motion of the said Executor and who together with Josiah Wills and Nathaniel Gray his Securities entered into and Acknowledged their Bond in the penalty ten Thousand Dollars with condition as the Law Directs Certificate is granted Him for obtaining a probat thereof in due form.
