Nelms of the county of Isle of Wight, Virginia, do make this writing as my last will and testament, and I herby revoke all and every other wills or will heretofore made by me. I loan to my wife Charlotte the use and occupation of my plantation during her life, and I also loan to her during her life my house and my household and kitchen furniture, cart and wheels, and all my farming utensils, two yearlings, one sow and pigs and five barrels of corn and one thousand pounds of fodder, said corn and fodder I give to her absolutely. I ratify and confirm the following gifts and advancements heretofore made by me to the following of my children, viz: to John T Nelms one steer; to Elijah one steer; to Mary Jordan one cow; to William Allen, one steer; to “Frank” or B. Franklin, one steer; to Wilson Cooley, one steer; to Anna Missouri, one cow; to Joseph McGrr one steer. At the death of my wife, I give and bequeath to my son George Lindsey my plantation which I have loaned to her, to him & his heirs forever, and I direct that the chattel property loaned to her shall be sold by my personal representation, and the proceeds distributed as follows, to wit: to my son James Parker the sum of twenty five dollars is first to be paid, and the remainder to be equally divided amongst all my children then living, including the said James Parker, or to the children of such of him as may be then dead. In the event of the death of my said son George Lindsey without issue lawfully of his body, I give the plantation which is herein bequeathed to him to my surviving children or the lawful heirs of those who may be dead, the children of any one who may be dead to take the portion to which the parent would be entitled if living.
