I William Powell of the Isle of Wight County being weak and ailing but being in his perfect sense and memory do make, and ordain constitute and appoint this my last Will and Testament. Item First and principally above all things I commit my soul to God the Father of Spirits hoping and assuredly believing to receive full pardon and remission of all my sins through my compassionate Redeemer, Jesus Christ, who gave himself to be an attonement for my sins and is able to save all that come unto God by Him seeing He liveth to make intercession for him who comes unto Him for mercy, in this hope and confidence I render up my soul with comfort; next I give my body to the earth in full assurance of its resurrection at the Last Day and as for what worldly estate God hath bestoweth upon me I give as followeth. First, I desire that all my just debts should be paid by my executor hereafter mentioned. Item I give to my son William Powell the plantation that he now lives on and one Iron Pott and one cross cut saw and one shilling in money out of my movable estate and no more. Item I give to my son Joseph Powell all my land at Corrowaugh joining to Robert Carrs and one gun, and one gray mare and one cow. Item I give to my son Benjamin Powell the plantation that I now live on after his mothers decease and one gun and one cow and calf and heifer. Item I give to my son in law Samuel Redlebush one shilling in money out of my movable estate and no more. Item I give to my daughter Martha one heifer and her increase and one shilling in money out of my movable estate and no more. Item I give to my daughter Rebeccah Wilkinson five shillings in money out of my movable estate and no more. Item I give to my daughter Mary Holland five shillings in money out of my movable estate and no more. Item I give to my daughter Rachael Powell one heifer. Item I give to my daughter Alice Powell one heifer. Item I give to my daughter Lydia Powel one pewter dish and two pewter plates. The rest of my movable estate I give to my loving wife Mary Powel, but if she shall happen to marry or dye then that part of my movable estate to be equally divided between her and the rest of my children except them debarred. I do appoint my son William Powel my trust friend my whole executor to see this my last Will executed performed. Witness: John Darden William Powell Thomas Powell (mark) Daniel Days (mark) At a court held for Isle of Wight County Mar 24th 1734 the last will and testament of William Powel deceased was proved in court by the oaths of John Darden and Thomas Powel, two of the witnesses there unto subscribed, and it appearing to the court that the executor nominated in the Will is departed this life-administration therefore is granted unto John Darden with the Will annexed and it is admitted to record.
