Isle of Wight County, VA Robert Vick Will, 1735 Will book 4, page 88 Virginia- - - - - -October the 25th, 1735. I ,Robert Vick, of the Isle of Wight County in Nottoway Parish, planter, being very sick of body but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to almighty god, the same and knowing that it is appointed by almighty God for all once to die. I do hereby commit my soul unto the hands of God it one and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of the executors and as for what it has pleased Almighty God to bless with I give and bequeath in manner and form as followeth: ITEM FIRST; I give and bequeath to my son Robert Vick one Negro boy named Harry with fifty acres of land joining to William Faircloth. SECONDLY; I give and bequeath to my son Joseph the plantation where John Harrod lives with the half of the land adjoining to the same out of a patent granted to me for one hundred acres, and to the remainder of the said patent I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin the other part of the same said patent. And I give and bequeath to my son Nathan the plantation which I now live on with one Negro boy named Sharper. And if either of my said sons should decease without heir their parts to fall to the next heir. That's if Robert dies without heir, his part to fall to Joseph, and if they both die without heirs, their parts to fall to Nathan and Benjamin, and these I give and bequeath after my decease and to my said sons inherit the same at sixteen years of age, except the manor plantation I leave for my loving wife Sarah during her natural life except she should marry and then to be disinherited only a child's part. And fifty shillings I give and bequeath to be taken out of my estate to put my four sons to school, that's fifty shillings apiece. And I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin eleven pounds cash. And the rest of my estate after all just debts paid, I give and bequeath to be equally divided between them, that's to my loving wife Sarah and all my sons and daughters. Only to my daughter Mary I give and bequeath to her one schilling. And I make and ordain my loving wife Sarah executor with my son Robert of this my last will and testament and proving this to be my last will and testament and none other. And my estate I desire not to be divided except my loving wife Sarah should marry, till her decease. Neither to be taken out of her hands except she marry.
