Devised October 20, 1708. Proven February 9, 1708/09. In the name of God Amen, ye 20th day of October 1708, I William West of Newport parish in ye county of Isle of Wight being sick and weak in body, but of sound, and perfect memory praise be given to God for ye same, knowing ye uncertainty of this life on earth, and being desirous to settle things in order do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first and principally, I do command my soul to almighty God my creator, assuredly believing that I shall receive full pardon and free remission of all my sins and be saved by ye previous death, impremiss of my blessed saviour, redeemer, Christ Jesus, and my body to Earth from whence it was taken, to be buried in decent ____ christian manner, as to my executor hereafter named shall be thought most convenient. And as for what worldly estate ye lord in Heaven hath lent me, my will _____ is, ye same shall be employed hereafter by this my will is exposed. First I do revoke, renounce, frustrate and make void all wills by me formerly made and declare and appoint this my last Will and Testament. Item I give unto my sons William West and Richard West all my land lying between William Green and Robert Bagnalls, it being 100 acres more or less for during ye natural lives equally to. be divided between ye my son William to have ye part of ye said land next to William Green's, and after ye decease, to ye heirs of ye bodys lawfully begotten Forever. Item I give and devise unto my son Robert West one part of a ____ of land I purchased of Capt. William Oldis beginning at a white oak in a little branch, goes down ye little branch to a long branch and goes down ye said long branch unto William Westraw's line, from ye said White Oaks down ye Indian path to Capt. Applewaites line, and goes along Capt. Applewaite’s line eastward unto William Westraw's corner tree, and so along ye said line to ye first station for and during his natural life and after his decease unto ye heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and devise unto my sons William West and Richard West ye remainder of ye aforesaid land bought of Capt. William Oldis lying on ye south side of ye Indian path, beginning at Round hill, and running up Col. Norsworthy's line to ye Indian path, and so from Round hill along Col. Pitts line, to Capt. Applewaites line, and goes along Capt. Applewaite's line to ye Indian path for and during ye natural lives, equally to be divided between ye and after ye decease unto ye heirs of ye bodyes lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and devise unto my son Robert West ye land whereon he now liveth that I bought of Mr. John Marshall ye elder, it being about 160 acres for and during his natural life and after his decease unto ye heirs of his body lawfully begotten for ever. Item I give and devise unto my son Richard West ye land whereon I now do live after my wives decease for and during his natural life and after his decease unto ye heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my sons William West and Richard West my mill with all ye appurtanances thereunto belonging, for and during their natural lives, ye proffits thereof to be equally divided between them and ye charges thereof to [be] equally born between them and after their decease unto ye heirs of their bodys lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary Green my Indian girl called Pinke for and during ye natural life of ye said Mary, and after her decease unto ye heirs of her body lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my son William West my Indian girl called Rose, for and during his natural life and after his decease unto ye heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife my negroes Tony and Jack and my Indian woman Pegg, so long as she shall live a widow, but if she marry or die, then I give my negro Tony unto my son Richard West and ye heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. And my negro Jack unto my son Robert West and ye heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever. And my Indian woman Peg unto my daughter Rebeckah West and ye heirs of her body lawfully begotten forever. Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife and my daughter Rebeckah West all ye rest of my personal estate wheresoever to be equally divided between my said loving wife and said daughter Rebeckah. And I do appoint my said loving wife my whole and sole extrx. of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal ye day and year above written.
