I John Powell of the lower parish of Isle of Wight County, being sick and weak in body but in perfect memory, do first and principaly give and bequeath unto the God Almighty my soul who gave it me. Secondly my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and christian like manner. Then [torn] give my worldly goods in manner and form as followeth [torn]. Item I do give to my son John Powell one shilling and no more. Item I do give to my son Jacob Powell one cow yearling. Item I do give to my daughter Sarah Hutchins one large iron pot and (one) pewter dish to be delivered to her after her mothers decease and it is my will and desire is that the said pot shall be delivered to my grandaughter Merikea Hutchins after her mothers decease. Item I do give to my son Moses Powell my long gun and one cow and calf to be given to him when he comes of age. Item I do give to my son Henry Powell one cow and calf to be delivered to him when he comes of age. Item I do give to my daughter Patience Powell one small iron pot and one pewter dish and same to be delivered to her after her mothers death. Item I do give to my son Arthur Powell my land and plantation. I do give it to him and his heirs forever but not to be sold to any other person than his own brother and I do also, give him one cow and calf. Item I do give unto my loving wife Deborah Powell all the rest of my estate both in doors and out during her natural life and my will and desire is after her death, that it shall be equally divided among my children and I do appoint my loving wife my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this 18 day of February. I Walter Walters of the Lower Parish of the Isle of Wight Co. being now in perfect sense and memory, thanks be to my maker and knowing the certainty of death do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following (viz). I bequeath my soul to God my maker and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried after a christian like manner at the descretion of my executors or executrixes hereafter named. Item. I give and bequeath to my grandau. Martha Brown that plantation that formerly Robert Owen did live on and the land adjoining to if that belongs to me, and one cow and calf and what she already possessed with and no more. Item. I give and bequeath to my g.daughter Alice Powell one hundred and eighty seven acres of land adjoining on William Watkins and John Powell at Carrawook and what she is already possessed with and no more. Item. I give and bequeath to my two grandsons Walter and Benjamin Murrell all my tract of lands lying upon the South side of Blackwater joining upon Bridgman Joyner to be equally divided between them and their heirs forever. Excepting fifty acres I give to George Murrell and Mary his wife at the end of the land of Richard Beals during their lives. Item. I give to my grandaughter Mary Murrell the plantation I now live on and all the land adjoining to it beloning to me to hers and her heirs forever. Item. I give and bequeath to my dear and loving wife Alice and my grandaughter Mary Murrell all the remainder of my estate, goods, and chattle to be equally divided to them forever. And I appoint my loving wife and my grandaughter mary Murrell my whole and sole executrix to see this my Last Will fulfilled as witness my hand and seal this 26th day of November, 1730. For the lands already bequeathed to stand as the Will specifies and the ressidue of my estate wholly and soley to my grandaughter Mary Murrell plantation goods chattels to her and her heirs after my own and her grandmothers decease. Principally and . Page 332 First of all I give & bequeath my soul unto----------------- that was the giver of it And as for my Body------------------- like and decent manner the which I shall leave to ----------------------- Execx hereafter mentioned and as for my Worldly ----------- followeth. Firstly, It is my Will & Desire that my----------- Alice Gale and my Daughter Sarah Gale shall have ------------- and Priviledge of half my Orchard and the use of my --------------- half of my Land during my Wive's Life. 2nd I give to my Daughter Elizabeth Sykes one large pewter Dish and six pewter Spoons. 3 ly I give unto my Daughter Mary Bryant one Wainscott chest and eight pewter Spoons. 4 ly I Give unto my Daughter Alice Ely one Gun --- that is at her house and one dozen pewter Spoons, one plank box 5 ly I give unto my Daughter Sarah Gale one feather Bed and pair sheets, one Rugg, one Blankett, one trundle Bedstead, mat & cord and one long Table & fourms[?] and three flagg chairs and four pewter Basons and one pewter Dish and eight pewter Plates and one small Spitt and one box Iron[?] & one Iron Pott & Iron Pott-rack one large brass ------------ and one plank Box and one small spice mortar & Pestle. 6 ly I give unto my son Thomas Gale all my land only my wife & Daughter Sara Gale to have their Time in the Half of it as before directed and likewise I give him my Still after his Mothers decease and my Sword & Pistoles & Holsters and my long Gun and a two year old Heifer and one Ewe and all my Carpenters & Coopers Tools Except my broad Axe all which I give to him and his heirs forever and likewise I give him my large Bell Mettal Spice Mortar after his mother decease 7 ly And as for all the remaining part of my whole Estate I give & bequeath unto my loving Wife Alice Gale and to her disposing for ever.
