Aged 44 years. NOTES. (1) Major Henry Turner, or Harry Turner, as he was generally called, was son of Thomas Turner, who was son of Thomas Turner (King George County Records). Thomas Turner was sworn clerk of King George, Sept. 6, 1723. His will was dated 19th of February, 1757, and was proved May 4, 1758; mentions land in King George, Prince William and Westmoreland counties; names his son-in-law, Capt. Edward Dixon, and the latter's sons Harry Dixon and Thomas Dixon, grandsons Thomas Turner and Henry Turner, granddaughter Sally Turner, niece, Ann Wrenn's son, John Wrenn; refers to his son Harry Turner's will; names daughter Mary Turner. His son, Major Harry Turner died before his father in 1751; and in his will mentions his father Thomas Turner, brother Thomas Turner's son Charles, nephews Harry Dixon and Turner Dixon; names son Thomas and wife Elizabeth. Elizabeth Turner, last named, was daughter of Colonel Nicholas Smith, whose epitaph has been already printed. (See QUARTERLY, VI., p. 42). Soon after Major Turner's death, she married Bowler Cocke, Jr. She left an only son, Col. Thomas Turner, who married Jane (born August 15, 1749), daughter of Col. William Fauntleroy, of Nayler's Hole, in Richmond county, about the year 1767, and left a family of eight children - four sons and four daughters. The sons were Henry, Thomas, Richard and George. In 1794, Henry Smith Turner advertised "Smith's Mount", consisting of 1700 acres, for sale. (2) I owe these inscriptions to Miss Alice Page Aylett, daughter of Col. William R. Aylett, and niece of Patrick Henry Aylett. She writes: "By the side of the tombstone of Martha Aylett is another, whose inscription is worn off. I have heard that Unity West lies here. Elizabeth Henry (daughter of Patrick Henry) lies by her husband, Phili Aylett, but has no tombstone. Donald Robertson, who came from Scotland Page 175. about 1760, had a school near Aylett's Warehouse, on the King and Queen side of the Mattaponi, and worshipped in old Cattail Church. His daughter Lucy Robertson married Mr. Semple, and was the mother of Mrs. Ada Semple Bradford, of Springfield, Illinois, who lately made a handsome gift of silver plate to our church. Mrs. Bradford has a number of the school books of Donald Robertson, with some of his pupils' names in them". (John Walker Semple, son of John Semple, a lawyer of King and Queen county, and Elizabeth Walker, and grandson of Rev. James Semple, pastor of Long Dreghorn, Ayrshire, married, first, Miss Laurie, of Caroline county, and, secondly, Lucy Robertson. Issue, interalios Adaline Matilda, who married John S. Bradford, of Springfield, Illinois).
