KING GEORGE COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Fitzhugh Cemetery #2 ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Fitzhugh’s cemetery: 1937 Dec. 17 Research made by Julia Marie Heflin Cemetery Location: North of King George Court House, Virginia, 1.6 miles on Route #3, thence 1.3 miles south on Route #620, thence 2.5 miles south on Route #631, and 2.8 miles south of Dogue, on Route #607, and 3 miles south on a private road, on Millbanks estate north of banks of the Rappahannock River. King George County, Virginia DATE: About 1838. OWNERS: (blank) DESCRIPTION: It is enclosed in a nice wire fence, but quite a bit of honeysuckle in it. There are three graves with markers on the outer side of the fence. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions are given: Mary Mildred Skinker Fitzhugh born May 6, 1806 died May 25, 1870 Asleep in Jesus Augustine Washington Fitzhugh born January 13, 1789 died May 22, 1875 Mark the perfect man and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace. Sacred to the memory of Sally S. Pope daughter of William D. and Eliza Pope born December 25, 1824 died October 15, 1838 Aged 13 years, 9 months and 20 days Blind in belief of Christ to - - - to end, And scare - - - working vain, God is his own interpreter And he will be faithful to the end. Sacred to the memory of Eliza Bethann Webb daughter of the Rev. Zachariah H. and Elizabeth Goldsmith born March 13, 1835 died October 1, 1839 Aged 4 years, 16 months and 18 days Another flower into Gods paradise he had planted. Sacred to the memory of Bushrod Washington son of Thomas B. Turner and Catherine Augusta, his wife youngest daughter of Champ Brockenbrough He was accidently shot in the face, August 12, 1841 Aged 12 years and 6 months. He was a lovely and interesting child and of Catherine Augusta Brockenbrough his sister, who died June 25, 1857 Aged 5 years They were the only children of their mother, who died in their infancy and left them to the care of their grandmother, Sarah Brockenbrough, who erects this monument.
