KING GEORGE COUNTY, VA - CEMETERIES – Owen Cemetery ----¤¤¤---- Source: Library of Virginia Digital Collection LVA Titled Files: Survey Report, Owen’s cemetery: 1937 Nov. 26 Research made by Julia Marie Heflin Cemetery Location: 1.1 miles south of King George on Route #3; thence 1.6 miles southeast on Route #205; thence 2.8 miles north of Edgehill, Va., on Route #624 and .1 mile on private road in woods. King George County, Virginia DATE: 1815. OWNERS: The land where this cemetery is located was reserved, but the land around it is owned by Isaac Johnson, colored. (1937) DESCRIPTION: This is a large cemetery, but is not kept very well. It is located on the side of a private road in a body of woods. There are a large number of stones, but only one stone from which the inscription is readable. The following inscription was copied from the stone: Sacred to the memory of Jane Owen who died August 1, 1815 aged 80 years O my daughter -- -- -- -- death on us has made a --- --- weep not for us my child, but pray we only --- till that eternal day, when the great god shall summon all our kindred clay.
