It was built in 1720 by Alexander Hooe and was also occupied by Edwin Ruggles, Henry Chinn, & Samuel Hays. Hooe built this as a summer home. His three sons died during the Mexican War and their mother died from the shock. I am not sure if Alexander and his wife are buried here or at their Barnsfield home site. Readable Stones: Mortimer Bainbridge. Died 1858 Elizabeth Mason Hooe Bainbridge 1813-1862 John Taliaferro Hooe departed this Life April 21 1822 Aged -8 years Elizabeth Barns Hooe Departed this life March 25 1827 Aged 42. Unreadable Stone -- in front of John T. Hooe's footstone and beside Elizabeth M. H. Bainbridge's grave. cannot read stone Could likely be Emilie Harrow 21sept1821-13dec1833. Other unmarked graves exist in the cemetery, but it is unknown who they are.
