King George County, VA - Will of Margaret Jones, 1794

The following will of Margaret Jones was found at the King George County, 
Virginia courthouse.  The will was copied as close as possible from a photo 
copy of the original found in will book 2, page 179 by Peggy Miller.

In the name of god amen.  Being in my senses but sick & expect shortly to 
die, I give my body to the ground, my soul to god who gave it, and the Lord 
have mercy on it.  I give and bequeath to my son JOHN JONES the old cow, my 
request is that my son JOHN shall have me decently buried out of the balance 
of my estate, and the balance to be his right if there be anything left.  I 
also give unto my granddaughter Lucy Jones daughter of Caty Tyson a cow and 
calf, at her will disposal forever.
