In the Name of God, Amen, I John Wharton of the Parish of Hanover and County of King George being sick & weak, but in perfect sense & memory, Thanks be to Almighty God do make and ordain this my last Will & Testament. I bequeath by Body to the Earth and my Soul into the hands of Almighty God from whence it came, and for my Earthly Goods which it hath pleased Almighty God of his Goodness to bestow upon me I give & Bequeath as followeth Vizt. Item I give & bequeath to my beloved Wife Martha Wharton all my Worldly Goods during her natural Life, But if she marries it is my Will that She shall have none but her Thirds with One Hundred acres of Land more or less Bounded on the land of Mr. Thos. Turner Gent and on Gingotcange Creek during her Natural Life, and after her Decease it is my Will that the aforesaid Land shall return to my beloved son Samuel Wharton to him & his Heirs for ever, & after my Wife’s Decease it is my Will that all my Worldly Goods shall be equally divided between my other Three Children Elizabeth Wharton, Valentine Long Wharton & Mary Wharton, and to my eldest Son Samuel I give on Fiddle, and to my Son Samuel I give One Gun, and to my Son Valentine Long Wharton I give One Gun. I do hereby revoke all other Wills by me formerly made. I do hereby Appoint my Loving Wife & my Two Brothers Samuel & William Wharton whole Executors of this my last Will & Testament, As Witness my Hand & Seale this 13th Day of May 1733.
