Thomas Claiborne ----¤¤¤---- King William County Written: September 5 1723 Recorded: September 5 1723 GEORGE the SECOND &c TO ALL AND KNOW ye that for divers, good cause and consideration but more especially for and in consideration of the sum of forty pounds of good and lawful money for our use paid to our Receiver General of Revenues in this our Colony and Dominion of Virginia~ WE have given, granted and confirmed and by these presents for us our heirs and successors ~ DO give, grant and confirm unto Capt. Thomas Claiborne of King William County one certain tract or parcel of land containing ~ eighteen hundred acres, called and known by the name of SWEET HALL~ lying and being on the north side of the Pamunkey River in St. John's Parish, in the said county ~ eight hundred acres ~ part of his above eighteen hundred acres, is found to be part of land within the bounds of a Deed from Capt. William Claiborne ~ made to the said Capt. Thomas Claiborne the twelfth day of March Seventeen Hundred and One ~ for one thousand acres more or less ~ which is joined to be within the bounds of a Deed of Gift made by Coll. William Claiborne, Secretary of State, unto his son Thomas Claiborne ~ said father to the above named Thomas Claiborne ~ June the twentieth , sixteen hundred and seventy three ~ for eleven hundred acres more or less and is part of the Grand Patent of five thousand acres granted to the said Coll. William Clayborne, Secretary of State, the first day of September Sixteen Hundred and Fifty Nine~ which said tract of eighteen hundred acres is bounded as follows to wit~ BEGINNING at the mouth of a river called Tucka Commons [?] out of the sunken grounds, Thence up the side of the said Tucka Commons [ ?] to the head thereof , Thence North forty degrees east Twenty poles to a red oak in a Valley, Thence north fifteen degrees East Twenty poles to a corner hickory of Capt. William Claiborne in the head of the Valley in the corner Back line of the Grand Patent , thence along the old line of the Grand Patent Six Hundred and forty six poles to a small corner red oak of Thomas Claiborne, Junr. , Standing on a side of a hill in the Old Back Line , Thence South three hundred poles to a corner red oak of said Thomas Claiborne Junr bounding on the East side of the head of Middle Creek and down the run of the said Middle Creek, the Several Courses to Pamunkey River, thence down the river these several courses to the said Capt. Thomas Claibornes Landing at Sweet Hall, to a marsh and thence along the side of the marsh to the sunken grounds and Eastly along the side of the sunken ground, the several courses to the beginning place. WITH ALL and to have, hold and to which owning and paying and provided.
