Anne etc. To all ye: Know Yee that for Diverse Good Causes and
Considerations but more Especially for and in Consideration of the
Importation for three persons to dwell within this our Colony of Virginia
whose Names are Elizabeth Collins, Jno. Shifflett and Gilbert Ellett We
have Given Granted and Confirmed and by these presents for us and heirs,
and Successors do Give Grant and Confirm unto George Slaughter of the
County of [black line] one Certain tract or parcel of Land and Containing
one Hundred forty five and lying and being in the parish of St. Johns in
the County of King William on the west side of Cohoke Swamp and bounded as
followeth (to Witt) Beginning at a Small Gum in the Mouth of a Branch in
the upper Line of the Land, [where?] George Slaughter now lives upon thence
North Sixty Eight Degrees, West two Hundred forty Nine poles to a Small
Hickory in Thomas Kings Line thence along his old Creoked Line near North
East one Hundred etc. on pole to a Red Oake thence North Seventy five
Degres, East Seventy Six pole to the Run of Cohoke Swamp thence Down the
run of the said Swamp to the Beginning with all etc. To have hold etc. To
be held etc. Yeilding and paying etc. Provided etc. In Witness etc. Witess
our Trusty and welbeloved Alexander Spotswood, our Leut. Governor etc. at
Wmburgh and or the Seale of our Said Colony the Twenty Sixth day of April
one Thousand Seven Hundred twelve In the Eleventh Year of our Reign.
