King William County This is to certifie that Edmund Absalom enlisted under me as a soldier the 13th day of December 1776 for three years and served his full time out in the fifteenth Virginia Regiment. Given under my hand this 15th day of November 1786. Giles Raines N.B.The above named Edm. Absalom enlisted during the war & was taken prisoner at Charly Town and there capitalated infirm. I do hereby certifie that Edmund Absalom was wounded in the army and to the best of my knowledge at Fort Putnam by accident in carrying timbers for repairs of the garrison or perhaps on being ____ out on a foliger party on the day the accident happened him, given this day the 2 of Dec. 1786. Tho. Jones, late L. G. Virginia 18 pounds--Edm. 6 Absalom pension On examination of the above person find there has been back injury received on the vertabra as to occasion great ___ in general. The ___ is said to have been by the falls of a piece of timber, however received it totally disables him from a support by labour. (Signature cut off) Certified by Edm. Randolph for pension, 1 Jan. 1786. Absalom was about 35 years of age.
