The widow has four children her self to support them. A copy teste: Jno Quarles I do, with the advice of this Council, hereby certify that Elizabeth Edwards, widow of William Edwards, who was a private in the 15th Virginia Regiment and died in the service of the United States, is entitled to the sum of tenpounds yearly, to commence on the first day of January 1786. Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 18th day of June 1787. Signed: Edm: Randolph Copy teste: T. Meriwether At a Court held for King William County on the 23rd day of July 1792: Ordered that it be certified that Elizabeth Edwards is a widow of William Edwards who died in the service of his country and she is in very indagint (indigent) circumstances and not of sufficient bodily ability to support herself by her own industry and that the Court is of the opinion that she is the same person who is continued on the list of pensioners by the name of Mar------ ---- ____only by the name of Wm. Edwards of this County having so died. Teste: Jno Quarles King William July Court 1794 It appearing to the Court that Elizabeth Edwards, widow of William Edwards dec'd has heretofore been a pensioner on the general list has by some occasion been left off. It is therefore ordered to be certified to the Executive that the Court are of the opinion that the said Elizabeth is a proper object for the continuance of a pension of ten pounds per year. Copy teste: Jno Quarles I William Terry do hereby that Elizabeth Edwards, widow of William Edwards a continental soldier who was killed or died in the Revolutionary War, departed this life on or about the 18th day of August in the year 1795, this circumstance is fresh in my memory from my having made a will for her and which I have recently examined in my own handwriting dated the 17th day of August 1795 and she died the day following or the day after: Placed under my hand this 27th day of July 1809. Signed: William Terry King William County Court William Terry made oath before me, a Justice of the Peace for the County above, to the truth of the above certificate. Given under my hand this 27th day of August, 1809 Signed: John Foss The auditor will be pleased to state whether the within pension was paid and what time. Mrs. Edwards appears, from the auditor's book to have ______ the pention up to 1794. -----, when did Mrs. Edwards die. This fact must be proved by affidavit. It now appears Mrs. Edwards died 18 August 1795 and ___ it was ____ she was at the time of death entitled to the pention 1st January 1796 till 17th August 1795.**(this was actual words in document) The auditor will examine and report if any difficulty occurs against the claim of her -----.?
