The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************ WILL OF ABRAHAM FERGUSON, 1762/63 In the name of God Amen I Abraham Farguson of the parish of St. John & County of King William being very sick & weak in Boddy though blest by God of sound memory and knowing the uncertainty of this transetory Life & that all men sooner or later must die I constitute ordane and make this my last will & Testament in form & manner following. Viz I bequeath my sole to God that gave it & my boddy to be decently buried at the descretion of my Excrs hereafter named. Item - my just debts and funeral expenses being paid I give my son Wm. Farguson a negro sire named Patty to him & his heirs forever. Item - I give to my daughter Betty Farguson a negro girl named Liddy to her & her heirs forever. Item - I give to my son Abraham Farguson 2 negro children, one named Amsted and the other named Rachel to him & his heirs forever. Item - I give to my daughter Milly Farguson one negro child named Glochester to her & her heirs forever. Item - I give my tracts of land lying in Spotsylvania Co. containing about 600 & 12 acres to be divided equally between my two sons William & Abraham to them & their heirs forever after the decease of my beloved wife Milly to whom I give possession of the same tract of land during her life or widowhood. Item - I give to my beloved wife Milly one negro named Cyrus and one named Sarah. Item - I leave to my beloved wife Milly & to her disposal such of my estate as is now in Mr. Marshall's possession. I then appoint Col. John Crane & Mr. John Estes Exrs of this my last will & Testament. Moreover my will & interest is that in case any one of my children should die before they come to age, then what is left them shall be equally divided among the remaining. In wittness to these presents I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 25th day of Sept. 1762. sealed & delivered in the presents of Peggy Bird his Thos Pannell Abraham X Farguson Samuel Farguson mark King Wm. May Court 1763. This will was presented in Court by John Crane one of the Excrs named who made oath hereto according to law & entered into & acknowledged Bond with Simple Security & the same being proved by the oath of John Pannell a wittness hereto & ordered to be recorded & on the motion of the said Excrs. certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate in due form.
