Lancaster County Court Feby 16th 1846
Ordered that it be certified that it is proven to the satisfaction of the Court 
that That (sic) Thomas Pollard who was an officer in the war of the Revolution 
died intestate about the year one thousand seven hundred and ninety six leaving 
the following children, Clarissa, Betsy and Sally Pollard - That Clarissa 
intermarried with John Hall and died leaving the following children Addison 
Hall, Fanny B. Hall and Felicia T. Hall. The said Addison Hall and Felicia T., 
(who intermarried with Thomas S. Dunaway) are still living - The said Felicia T. 
is now the widow of said Thomas S. Dunaway - Fanny B. Hall intermarried with 
Ralph Edmond and died leaving the following children, Ralph A. Edmond and Fanny 
B. Edmond. The said Fanny has intermarried with Warner Eubank - Betsy Pollard 
intermarried first with Angus Alexander and secondly with Samuel L. Straughan 
all of To whom are now dead leaving children to wit: Robert Alexander by her 
first husband marriage and Samuel L. Straughan Alice Straughan who intermarried 
with Cyrus Haynie,
Martha W. Straughan who intermarried with Samuel Emanuel, the said Martha is
dead leaving one child to wit Martha S - Elizabeth Straughan who intermarried 
with James Lowe. The said James has since died - Jane Straughan who intermarried 
with Patrick Jones - Mary Straughan who intermarried with William Glasscock who 
died leaving one child William Luther Glasscock now an infant - Sally Pollard 
intermarried with John Kirk both of whom are still
living -

Know all men by these presents that we Robert Alexander, Cyrus Haynie in right 
of his wife who was Alice T. Straughan & as Gdn of Wm. L Glasscock, Eliz. W. 
Lowe, P. H. Jones in right of his wife who was Jane L. Straughan & Saml. L 
Straughan of the County of Northumberland and State of Virginia heirs of Thomas 
Pollard late of Lancaster County and said State deceased have made constituted 
and appointed and do hereby make constitute and appoint T. L. and A. Thos Smith 
of the City of Washington our true and lawful attorney for us and in our names 
and stead and for our use to appear in any of the Department of the Government 
of the United States and prosecute our claim to the amount of half pay due and 
unpaid in right of the Services of the aforesaid Thomas Pollard (who was a 
Captain in the Virginia State Line in the War of the Revolution) under the act 
of Congress passed 5th July 1832 and to take all legal and proper measures for 
the recovery of the Said Claim and receipts or other Sufficient discharge for us 
and in our names to make give and deliver and to do all other acts and things 
necessary to be done for the recovery and receipts of the said claim and the 
amount due thereon giving and granting unto our said attorneys our full and 
entire power and authority in the premises hereby ratifying and confirming all 
and whatsoever our Said attorneys share lawfully do in the premises by virtue 
hereof In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and Seals this 26th day 
of December 1845.

Saml. L. Straughan ------- Signers and sealers to the following power of 
attorneys and acknowledged the same to be their voluntary act and deed for the 
purposes therein named. Signed sealed and acknowledged before me this 26th day 
of Decr 1845

testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of said 
county the 12th day of Jany. 1846

Woodford and State of Kentucky heirs of Thomas Pollard late of the County of 
Lancaster and State of Virginia deceased have made constituted and appointed and 
do hereby make constitute and appoint T L and A. Thomas Smith of the City of 
Washington our true and lawful attorneys for us and in our names and stead and 
for our use to appear in any of the Departments of the Government of the United 
States and prosecute our claim to the amount of half pay due and unpaid in right 
of the Services of the aforesaid Thomas Pollard (who was a Captain in the 
Virginia State Line in the war of the Revolution) under the act of Congress

purposes therrein named signed sealed and acknowledged before me this 30th day 
of December 1845

County Court for the County aforesaid do certify that Hiram Wilhoit Esquire 
whose name is subscribed to the foregoing certificate is and was at the date

whatever sum of money may be due us and receive by them under our Power of 
attorney to prosecute a claim for half pay in behalf of Thomas Pollard heirs & 
the receipt of the said Addison Hall shall be a full discharge for the same -
