Coroner Edward Rupp said death was caused by second and third degree burns. Left in the sink while his mother went to hang clothing on an outside line, the baby turned on the hot water tap and was scalded fatally. James was born May 13, 1947, at Pennington Gap, VA. He is survived by his parents; a sister, Brenda, two; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Castle of Duffield, VA. and Mr. and Mrs. Arlis Keck of Goin, Tenn. The body will be sent from the Earle Little Funeral Home at midnight to the Cawood Funeral Home at Middlesboro, KY. Services and burial will be in Middlesboro. Additional Comments: James Alan Keck was born 13 May 1947 at Pennington Gap, Virginia. He was the son of Foister Floyd Keck of Claiborne County, Tennessee, and his wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Castle, of Stickleyville, Lee County, Virginia. His was a sad and tragic death which his parents never got over.
