He is L. D. WARD, 74 years of age, and a citizen of Dryden, Virginia. In October 1875 Mr. WARD with his wife [sic Nicati Brown] started from Stickleyville, Lee County, Virginia in a two horse wagon for the northern part of Missouri. They came through Pineville, Barbourville, and was in London for a few days. He told our representative that all the present towns along the route he took, were at the that time, insignificant villages, some of them having not more than a dozen houses. It required six weeks and one half day to make the journey from Virginia to Edensbury, Missouri. Additional Comments: Lexington Daniel "Leck" Ward was born, raised, and died in Lee County, Virginia. He was the son of James Bradley Ward and Catherine "Katy" Roberts. He married 1st Nicati Martha Brown and 2nd Cyntha Gibson. Leck and Nicati removed to Missouri for a brief period of time, moving then to western Tennessee, and then back to Dryden, Virginia.
