Sullivan PENNINGTON GAP, Va. -- Virginia Lewis Sullivan, 85, passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, at the Lee Regional Medical Center. Born on May 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Cam and Clara Nolan Lewis, she was a resident of Pennington Gap most of her life. She was a graduate of Pennington High School and was a graduate of Radford State Teacher's College with a Smith-Hughes degree in home economics. She retired from teaching in 1977. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pennington Gap where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by one son, Daily Lewis Sullivan; two brothers, Ben Cam Lewis and Marsh Lewis; by two sisters, Cora Creech and June Lewis Smyth; also by a stepdaughter, Martha Hill. Survivors include: one daughter, Ginger Gail Sullivan of Pennington Gap; one stepdaughter, Joan Criner of Catawba, N.C.; one brother, James P. Lewis of Lebanon; one sister, Henrietta Lewis Logan of Christiansburg, Va.; three nieces, Sharon Logan Sarver, Robin Lewis Beckett and Bette Lewis Everson; one nephew, Jay Lewis; and two special friends, Terry Jones and Penny Verdier. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Sturgill Funeral Home, Pennington Gap. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Ken Sprinkle officiating. Interment will follow in Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, Va. Mrs. Sullivan will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be the following: L.T. Stewart, Jay Lewis, Paul Sarver, George Ray Kelly, Bill Smith and Jeff Harber. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in memory of Virginia Sullivan, c/o First United Methodist Church, 205 E. Morgan Ave., Pennington Gap, VA 24277.
