Jerusha Chafin had been hospitalized for 8 months and 25 days when she died on 
May 14, 1916.  She had been attended from August 19, 1915 to May 14, 1916.  

Additional Comments:
Jerusha July Edens Chafin suffered from an absessed tooth for which she did not 
receive any medical treatment.  She took pain medication which further 
contributed to her mental deterioration.  She gave birth to 14 children.  Her 
husband James Henry Chafin picked up her body from the train at the depot at 
Jasper, Virginia (named for her brother, Jasper Edens.)  Jerusha was born in 
Patrick County, Virginia.  After the Civil War her parents and their children 
removed first to Russell County then to Lee County where they lived out their 
lives.
