CHAFIN all that certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in Lee County, Rocky Station Magisterial District, Virginia, and adjoining the lands of Emmet Lawson, HENRY CHAFIN, Joseph Peters, and the Mountain View Meeting House , containing 12 acres. "2nd. I appoint JAMES M. DURHAM, Executor of this my will and desire that no security be required of him such. "Witness my hand this 6th day of May 1914. Jerusha Chafin Signed, published, and acknowledged by JERUSHA CHAFIN is and for her last will in the presence of us who in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names as witnesses. Lawrence Durham Clarance Durham Virginia: In the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of the County of Lee on this the 26th day of August 1916. It advising that JERUSHA CHAFIN died some time wise in the Southwest Virginia Hospital at Marion in the county of Smith, State of Virginia." Additional Comments: Jerusha Chafin was born December 10, 1846, at Patrick County, Virginia, and named Jerusha July Edens by her parents, Andrew Jackson Edens and Statira Shelor. The family removed from Patrick County, VA to Russell Co., VA after the Civil Ward and settled by 1870 in Lee County, VA. Jerusha Chafin died on 26 August 1916 of dementia and dysentery at the Southwest Virginia Hospital at Marion, Smyth County, Virgina. She gave birth to 14 children to include the following: Henry, Margaret, Eliza (Lyde)Chafin Ward, Nancy Chafin, Sally C. Chafin, James Chafin, John Meredith Chafin, Mollie Chafin, Martha Chafin Lawson, and five unidentified children. She married James Henry Chafin on 2 February 1869 at Russell County, VA; her husband died 25 June 1927 at Lee County, Virginia.
