Bounty Land Warrant, Revolutionary Service
BLWT1300-400 (Warrant No. 1300 for 400 acres of bounty land) issued on 10 Aug
1789 to Richard Platt, assignee, on account of the service of Major William
Lewis of the Virginia Line. From the Revolutionary War Section, NARA, Series:
M805, Roll: 526  Image: 801, 802, 803


Francis B. Heitman, _Historical Register of the Officers of the Continental Army
during the War of the Revolution, April 1775 to December, 1783_. (Originally
published Wash. D.C., 1914, reprint edition by Clearfield Company, Inc,
Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore MD, 2003), p. 350:
   "Lewis, William (Va). 1st Lieutenant 1st Virginia, 2d October 1775; Captain,
4th September 1776; Brigade Inspector of Muhlenberg's Brigade, 7th April, 1778;
Major 10th Virginia, 12th May, 1779; taken prisoner at Charleston, 12th May
1780; transferred to 3d Virginia, 12th February, 1781, and was a prisoner to
close of war. (Died 1811.)"

Reinstated as a DAR Patriot November, 2007.
