"Calvin Barrett Everhart, 28, young Lovettsville farmer, was found unconscious at about 3:30 Monday afternoon on the state road two miles south of Lovettsville by Ralph Fields, Lovettsville, Everhart was rushed to Loudoun hospital by Fields and Charles Marcum. He died there at about 4:00 p.m. Corner W.P. Frazer and Sheriff S.P. Alexander who investigated the tragedy reported that death was accidental and caused by a fractured skull. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Everhart, Calvin had been out riding and apparently had been thrown by the horse, which is the property of Raymond Myers, Purcellville. When discovered, the horse “a child-broken mare”, was standing quietly beside Everhart. The horse legs and sides were badly bruised, probably from a fall. Besides his parents, Everhart is survived by his wife, the former Majorie Marshall of Oatlands, five children, Patricia Ann, James Ernest, Jean Ellen, Randolph, and Calvin Barrett, Jr. Also surviving are a brother Leonard, and three sisters, Bernice and Shirley, all of Lovettsville, and Mrs. Claude Fox, Hamilton. Howard Milford Everhart, 71, retired dairy farmer in the Neersville section of Loudoun, died Jan . 28 after a brief illness. Mr. Grubb was the son of the late Ebenezer and Cecelia George Grubb of Lovettsville where he lived the early part of his life. His first wife was Mrs. Mary Esther Boger of Lovettsville, who died 24 years ago, and two sons of this union, Robert of Lothan ,Ala., and William of Georgia, survive. Mr. Grubb moved to about 38 years ago with his family to Tennessee, where he with his son, William, was engaged in manufacturing ice. Fifteen years ago they moved to Georgia. Besides his two sons, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Grubb; three sisters, Mrs. Dolly Compher of California, Mrs. Ann White of North Dakota, Mrs. Bertie Emich of Washington; two brothers, Jack of St. Louis and Harry of California. She was 71 years of age, and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Hunter. She had spent her entire life in the Lovettsville community. Her death was caused by paralysis. Lifelong Lovettsville resident, Esther Lamar Johnson died Monday, June 2 at her home at the age of 101. She was born in February 1896. Virts, of Newburg, a well known Cumberland division engineer, who was operated upon at the city hospital Thursday for an inward goiter, was unable to withstand the severe operation and succumbed last Friday evening at 6:30 o’clock. The deceased gentleman leaves a wife and six children, two of whom are married and four at home. He was brother of Mrs. M.L. Matheny, of this city. The body was taken to Newburg for burial. Virts, III of Norfolk and Linda Virts Hudgins of Jacksonville, Fla. Interment was in Hillsboro Cemetery. Virts, Edgar Hillary - Frederick Post, March 17, 1939. Edgar Hillary Virts, 46 year-old Brunswick municipal employee, was crushed to death beneath a gasoline-propelled street roller that go beyond his control on Maple Avenue in Brunswick about 3:15 o’clock on Monday afternoon. Virts’ crushed body was removed from beneath the wrecked roller sometime after the accident before the gaze of a large crowd that gathered. The roller failed to negotiate the turn and toppled over, pinning Virts beneath it. His skull was fractured and his body crushed. Witness said the roller narrowly averted striking an automobile in it uncontrolled flight. Several physicians were summoned and pronounced the man dead. No inquest was deemed necessary. Virts is survived by his wife Mrs. Blanche Coffman Virts and three children, George L. Virts and Miss Ethel Virts, at home; and Mrs. Louis F. Nalley, Brunswick. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church , South and a well know and highly esteemed resident of his community. Though unable to be up and around his home, he bore his long illness in patience and received his friends in his usual courteous manner. Mr. William “Butch” Nelson Ambrose, 47, of 806 Knoxville Rd., Knoxville, died Friday, Nov. 1, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 7, 1949, in Frederick, he was a son of Evelyn Gosnell Ambrose and the late Raymond Nelson Ambrose. Surviving in addition to his mother are a stepsister, Iris Jean Johnson of Hagerstown; an aunt and uncle, Tootie and Howard Gosnell of Lovettsville, Va .Interment was in the Reformed Cemetery, Knoxville. Wenner, Charles - Loudoun Times Mirror, July 1, 1965. Charles H. Wenner, 86, died June 29 at the Jones Nursing Home in Brunswick, Md. He was a former Lovettsville resident. His wife was the late Annie Rickard Wenner. John William “Bill” Wenner, 74, Lovettsville, died May 2 at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Martinsburg, W. Va. Born June 11, 1915, Lovettsville, he was the son of the late George Franklin Wenner and Sarah Ellen Baker Wenner. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II as a staff sergeant, receiving the Bronze Star, Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, and APT Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars. Surviving are his wife, Emily Wenner, Lovettsville; three daughters, Vicki O’Donnell and Deborah Wenner, both of Winchester, and Sandra Tucker, Jefferson, Md.; a sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Everhart, Lovettsville; a brother, Elmore C. Wenner, 78, of Brunswick, Md., and a Lovettsville native, died Nov. 23 at the Springfield Hospital Center, Sykesville, Md. He was a son of the late Charles H. and Annie Rickard Wenner. His wife Dorothy J. Wenner preceded him in death. Surviving are three sisters, Arbutus Harding of Neersville, Ruth Pendley of Lovettsville and Lorena Virts of Purcellville. Mrs. Sarah (Nellie) Wenner, 89, of Lovettsville died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mrs. And Mrs. Leslie Everhart of Lovettsville, on Jan. 1. She was the widow of George Franklin Wenner and a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Virts Baker. She was member of Rehobeth Methodist Church. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Wenner is survived by four sons, Brice, Ellmore, George and John, all of Lovettsville. She also leaves a brother, Hubert Baker of Lovettsville. Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville. Werking, Ella Elizabeth - Frederick Post, December 16, 1981. Mrs. Ella Elizabeth Werking, 82, formerly of 6204 Mountaindale, Rd., Thurmont, died Tuesday evening Dec. 15, at Frederick Nursing Center, where she had been a guest since April 1981. Her husband, Warden W. Werking, predeceased her in January 1973. Born Feb. 24, 1899, at Waterford, Va., Mrs. Werking was a daughter of the late Philip and Emma E. Virts Rollison. Surviving are four sons, Philip Werking of Beltsville, William W. Werking of Frederick, Thomas F. Werking of Run, Va.; four daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Zimmerman o f Frederick, Mrs. Phyllis Ridgeway of Lovettsville, Va., Mrs. Mary Lee Smith of Benita Springs, Fla., and Mrs. Virginia McCraken, Mount Pleasant; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Loy, Lucketts, Va.; four brothers, Elgan Rollison of Hamilton, Va., John Rollsion of Waterford, Va., Ebby Rollison of Florida and Edgar Rollsion, Frederick. Charles Wiley, son of the late George and Mary Wiley of Hillsboro, died at his home in Hillsboro July 22 following a stroke. His wife was the late Rose Virts Wiley. For a number of years he was a resident of Washington. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Denny Waters of Hillsboro; one brother, William Wiley of Gaithersburg, Md. Interment was in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Wilson, Ruth - Loudoun Times Mirror, February 17, 1993. Ruth Simpson Wilson, 64, Purcellville, died Feb. 6. Born Sept. 12, 1928 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Robert Clark and Ruth Heskett Simpson. Surviving are two sons, Robert Paige Wilson of Purcellville and William Marsh Wilson of Charleston, W. Va., one daughter, Diane Lee Sammet of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four brothers, Robert C. Simpson of McLean, James F. Simpson of Chase City, Lynn A. Simpson of Vienna and Richard Simpson of Purcellville; four sisters, Louise Moore of Winchester, Mary Potts of Round Hill, and Barbara Lowry and Marian Fleming, both of Lovettsville. Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville. Wire, Charles Lamar - Blue Ridge Herald, September 17, 1953. Charles Lamar Wire, 60, died Friday at his home near Lovettsville. He was stricken by a heart attack. He was the son of the late Charles and Stella Potterfield Wire. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Columbia Johnson Wire, a son Robert of Hyattsville, Md., a sister, Mrs. Richard Hickman, a brother, George Wire, both of Lovettsville, and three grandchildren, Susan, Janice and Donna Wire, all of Hyattsville, Md. I nterment was in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville. Wire, Columbia - Loudoun Times Mirror, April 7, 1983. Columbia Johnson Wire, 89, a life-long resident of Lovettsville died March 24 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born in Lovetsville Aug. 15, 1893, she was a daughter of Robert Gary and Ella George Johnson. Mrs. Wire taught in Loudoun public schools in the 1920;s, later teaching in Roanoke and returning to Loudoun in the 1950’s to teach at Lucketts and Lovettsville. Her husband, Charles l. Wire, died in 1953. Surviving are one son, Robert L. Wire of Ellicott City, Md.; one sister, Esther Johnson of Lovettsville, with whom she made her home. Interment was in the Union Cemetery, Lovettsville.
