The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ******************************************************************************** Will of Jacobus "James" CRAVEN signed 4 Feb 1802 found in Loudoun Co., VA Will Book F-4, Page 441 ******** Be it remembered that I, James Craven, of the County of Loudoun and of the State of Virginia, being weak of body but of sound disposing mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of time in this transitory world do this 4th day of the month called February in the year of our Lord 1802 make and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. 1st, I will that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon as convenient after my decease. 2nd, I give and bequeath to my son James Craven the sum of $100 to be paid by my estate within one year after my decease and in case there should be bond that I gave to Moses Shepherd brought against my estate it is to be of no effect as it ought to have been settled in my life time. 3rd, I give and bequeath to my son Giles Craven the plantation I now live on containing about 150 acres to him and his heirs forever upon his paying the sum of 350 pounds in the following manner. That is to say 200 pounds to be equally divided among his systers Sarah McCrony, Alice Shortz, Ann Nixon, Esther Vansickle, Hannah Brown, Elizabeth Bolon and Margaret Neifus; and 150 pounds to his brother John Brown. These several legacies to be paid as follows: 100 pounds to be paid in 18 months after my decease to be divided among my eight last mentioned children then $100 yearly and every until paid and divided as above without interest. 4th, I will that my stock household furniture of what kind solver be sold after my decease upon what credit my executors may then proper and the arising therefrom after my debts and James' legacy is paid with the cash, bonds, notes and book account to be equally divided among my above named daughters except Elizabeth and I will that she have 5 pounds more than the others and it to be paid to them as soon as it can be collected. 6th, I will that my wearing apparel be equally divided among my three sons, James, Giles, and John. 6th and lastly, I nominate my son Giles Craven, Joshua Gore and Philip Vansickle executors of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made as witnessed my hand and seal the date and month first above written.
