LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – WILL: JACOB LATIMER, 1833 ----¤¤¤---- LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF JACOB LATIMER Boone County Kentucky Will Book: C, Page: 21 & 22 September Term 1833 I Jacob Latimer of Boone County Kentucky being weak and feeble in body though of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of human life and being desirous to make a disposition of my Estate by Will, do therefore make ordain and constitute this to be my last will and testament. In the first place my wish and desire is that all my debts be paid as soon as the nature of the care and circumstances will permit. Secondly, I will and bequeath unto my beloved wife Jane Latimer my Negro man named Tom and my Negro girl named Sarah, and the future increase of said Sarah if any, also a good ridding horse and saddle and bridal, and two good feather beds, bed stead’s and furniture, and such other articles of household furniture or personal property as she may choose to take, which are to be selected by herself, and also two hundred dollars in cash, all of which shares property and money she is to have use and enjoy during her natural life and then all that remains of it is to be equally divided between my children Nancy Latimer and Richard J. Latimer. Thirdly, I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Latimer & Randall Latimer her husband the Negro girl Harriet and the Negro boy Moses, who are now in their possession, also my Negro man Edmund and five hundred dollars in cash to be paid them within three years after my decease and no charge is to be made against them by my Executors or in division of my Estate for the Negro girl and child I have heretofore given them and by them sold and for the horses or other personal property and money heretofore given them. Fourthly, I will and bequeath to my son Richard J. Latimer the farm and tract of land whereas I now live containing about two hundred and sixty three acres be the same more or less with its appurtenances, also my Negro slaves Evaline, Sanford & Robinson and two good horses and two good beds, bedsteads and furniture. Fifthly. In case my Negro boy Alfred is obtained in the lawsuit about him with Jos. H. Marshall, it is my will that my son Richard shall have said boy Alfred, but he is to have said boy by paying to my daughter Nancy and her said husband one hundred dollars. Sixthly. It is my will and desire that all the balance on remainder of my Estate be it real personal or mixed & be it more or less, be it in possession or remainder, shall be equally divided and descend equally to my daughter Nancy & my son Richard J. Latimer. Lastly. I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my son Richard J. Latimer, Executor to this my last will and testament. In testimony to hereof I do hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixth day of December in the year eighteen hundred and thirty three. This writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Jacob Latimer was this day produced in court & proven by the oath of Richd. White a subscribing witness who also made oath that the testator called on Amanda Chambers the other subscribing witness to witness said will, who signed it as a witness in presence of him said White & in presence of the Testator, whereupon, it is ordered that said will be recorded which is accordingly done.
