Court House January 1887, Book 3H, Page 172. I, Edward Thompson, of the County of Loudoun and State of Virginia, do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following to ____: I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Jane Thompson, in trust for the benefit of my daughter, Virginia Ann Maddox, during her natural life, the house and lot situated on the corner of my farm and in the junction of the roads usually called Braddock road & Chinquepin Lane and bounded as follows. Beginning at a stone, corner to Lampson Hutchison's Deed, Reuben Hutchison's Deed, and my farm know as Diamond Hill, and running thence with the line of Lampson Hutchinson's Deed on Chinquepin Lane one hundred and sixty eight yards; thence a course supposed to be between North and West about ninety two yards to a stone planted by a marked white oak on the west side of a piece of woodland, and on the east side of a field; thence about one hundred and three yards to a planted stone in the line bounding the of Martha Adams in the division of the original Diamond Hill farm at, or near, the Braddock Road. Thence with said line one hundred and sixty five yards to the beginning, containing as I suppose, about three acres of land. The said Sarah Jane Thompson, as Trustee is to permit the said Virginia Ann Maddox to hold and possess the same to her own proper use and benefit so long as she may live and choose to occupy the said lot so bequeathed, then the said trustee shall rent the said house yearly and pay to the said Virginia Ann Maddox the next rents annually, while absent. And at the death of the said Virginia Ann Maddox, the right and title to said lot shall pass to her son, Charles Ashby Thompson and the trust shall cease. But should the said Charles Ashby die, not having become twenty one years old, the said lot at the death of the said Virginia Ann Maddox, shall pass to my daughter Sarah Jane Thompson to be held and posessed by her in her own right and title. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Jane Thompson, all the remainder of my Diamond Hill Farm. Also one detached wood lot near Little River Meeting House, and all my "personality" including all bonds, moneys, etc., of which I sall die possessed. These bequests I make to the said Sarah Jane Thompson, are to be subject, nevertheless, to the payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses. I designedly bequeath nothing to heirs of my son, Reed. T. Thompson, Dec'd. I also designedly bequeath nothing to my sons, Randolph S. Thompson, Charles E. Thompson and John L. Thompson, or to the heir or heirs of any of them. I appoint my daughter, Sarah Jane Thompson, Executrix of this my last will and testament, releasing her from all security on her taking out letters of administration, and I do hereby revoke any other will or wills heretofore made by me.
