Gass? admx of Nicholas Hall dec’d about $760 due by bond subject to be credited by the interest purchased by said Thomas R. Dunn in the estate of the decedant from Jno A. And the said Thomas R. Dunn being desirous of securing the payment of all foregoing debts.... this indenture 14 May 1850 between said Thomas R. Dunn of the first part, James E. Chapman of the second part and the creditors aforesaid of the third part, witnesseth that for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of $5.00 paid by said James E. Chapman to Thomas R. Dunn, Thomas R. Dunn hath giving, granted, ... sold unto Chapman the following property to wit: all the right, title and interest of the grantor in right of his wife Jane B. Dunn in and to the estate [made?] and personal of Thomas Salmon dec’d the said estate being now in the posession of Elizabeth W. Salmon widow and admx of Thomas Salmon dec’d also all the interest of the said Thomas R. Dunn in the assets of whatever description of the late firm of M. A. Dunn & Co. being any balance that may be coming to him in money or property real or personal after payment of the debts of said firm: To have and to hold the same unto the said James E. Chapman his heirs and assigns forever including of course the said Thomas R. Dunn’s interest in the increase of the slaves of the estate of Thomas Salmon dec’d. In trust however that if the whole of the debts aforesaid with the cost of writing and recording this deed are not paid off in twelve months from this date, the said James. E. May trustee. William Hundley indebted to Benjamin F. Dunn $159. In trust 53 acres bounded as expressed in deed of equal date from said Dunn and Parrott attorney aforesaid and with 30 acres adjoining as his portion of land belonging to Margaret Hundley, dec'd. by a compromise with his brother. Rec. 12 Nov. 1855 Deed Book DD, Page 426 17 Dec. 1855 Nancy Vest 1st, John N. Hughson 2nd, Charles G. Trevilian 3rd all of Louisa County whereas a marriage is intended between Mary Vest and Charles G. Trevilian and said Nancy is possessed to property to wit: slaves Wilson, Morris, Susan, Daniel, Rachel, Mima, William, Robert, John and Stephen and certain money and interest in the estate of her late husband John Vest dec'd. Nancy with the consent of Charles G. Trevilian sets over and conveys in trust to John N. Hughson for her own proper use and benefit free from the debts of Charles G. Trevilian. If Nancy dies after the marriage this property to be divided between her issue (if any) then according to Virginia law respecting the divisions of interstates. If Trevilian dies the trust shall cease and reinvest in Nancy solely. If Hughson dies Nancy to have full power to appoint another trustee. She can use the money during her marriage as she sees fit. Parrott attorney in fact for James Hundley to William Hundley for $159 for tract on both sides Elliots Branch containing 53 acres adjoining Bond, Parrott, Ellis. Recorded 8 Dec. 1856. Deed Book DD, Page 709 William B. Porter on 2 April 1853 soled 3 tracts of land in Louisa to Paul W. Conner in trust to secure debt due Charles G. Trevilian and William B. Porter and wife Mary on 31 Oct. 1853 sold land to James M. Hart. Since all money has been paid to Trevilian he enters and consents with this deed. Rec. 20 Feb. 1855 Deed Book DD, Page 736 16 Aug. 1856 Charles G. Trevilian and Nancy his wife to John R. Vest, Robert H. Vest and James M. Vest all of Louisa County except John R. Vest of Fluvanna County. By deed of marriage contract 24 Dec. 1849 John Vest conveyed 1/3 of his real and personal estate in trust to William N. Hughson for the benefit of Nancy Trevilian then Nancy Hughson in the event she should marry him and survive him. John Vest and Nancy Hughson were shortly afterwards married and she survived her said husband who died in the year 1853. After John Vest death by a deed of marriage the lands of John Vest excluding the portion which he conveyed as aforesaid by deed of marriage was sold to the parties entitled to them at which sale John R. Vest, Robert H. Vest and James M. Vest became purchasers and said money has been fully paid to said Nancy by the purchasers. This is a deed of release. Sig. Charles G. Trevilian and Nancy Trevilian. Justices of Louisa County certify for Charles G. and Nancy Trevilian. Deed Book EE - 1857-1865 Deed Book EE, Page 49 By deed 1 Feb. 1853 recorded 14 Feb. 1853 Elisha Melton conveyed to Charles G. Trevilian a tract being formerly purchased by said Melton of Gravit and Mildred Edwards on Harris Creek containing 523 acres in trust to secure debt $850 payable to Robert Collins trustee for Susan Ann Collins. All debt has been paid to Robert Collins trustee by Edward H. Lane, James L. Gordon and Charles W. Dabney trustee in deed of trust and released to said Charles G. Trevilian. Trevilians released to Lane, Gordon and Dabney trustees. Deed Book EE, Page 434 11 April 1859 Charles G. Trevilian and wife Nancy to Virginia Central Rail road. About the same time the RR was completed to Trevilians and the present depot, Elisha Melton and James Hunter purchased the tract on which the depot now stands from Lucy Trevilians. The depot was built and the title was neglected to be made to the Rail Road and Melton and Omohundro subsequently sold the tract to Charles G. Trevilian. Now C. G. Trevilians became willing to secure to the R R the depot at the same price and further consideration of $120 Trevilians conveys tract depot now stands containing 63/100 acres adjoining the Trevilian garden, main tract. Also 1 other lot which the agents house now stands containing 6/10 acres adjoining the depot and right of way from said depot lot to the Louisa County Courthouse Road. With restrictions that the said lots conveyed to the rail road for rail road purpose and not to be used for establishing a store or grocery or any business interfering with C. G. Dunn tract adjoining Charles B. Cosby and others believed to containing 100 acres being tract conveyed this day to Lindsay C. Poindexter by Patrick Martin and Martha A. his wife. In trust to secure to Patrick Martin the payment of 4 bonds made 28 Jan. 1867 each for $106.75. Provisions for sale by Dunn if forfeiture is made. Deed Book HH - 1870-18?? Deed Book HH, Page 443 21 Nov. 1870 Henry W. Murray (Special Commissioner) under a decree of the Louisa Circuit Court April 1870 in chancery suit depending in which George W. May, Tandy Chewning and others plaintiffs and Josiah C. Sanner, Miletus T. Gooch and others defendants to Charles G. Trevilian all of Louisa Co. By decree of court 21 April 1859 David M. Hunter was appointed Commissioner to sell following lands belonging to said Josiah C. Sanner: 1 tract of 4 acres; 2nd tract of 63 acres, 3rd tract of 5 acres including the tavern and other buildings near the line of the Chesapeake and Ohio RR about 1 mile south of Trevilian Depot adjoining Alexander Netherland and others. Said land was sold to Charles G. Trevilians 28 July 1860 in pursuance of said decree and by a decree April 1870 Henry W. Murray was appointed Commissioner to withdraw from among the papers of the said suit all bonds executed by said Trevilians and Militus T. Gooch his security for the purchase money and to collect same. Trevilians has paid all bonds to sum to date of $1,575.75 and by special warranty deed Murray conveys the 3 tracts including the tavern house. Recorded 2 Dec. 1870.
