Deed of Joseph Woolfolk to his Bibb grandchildren - 1768

To all Christian People to whom this presents shall come, I Joseph Woolfolk of the parish of 
St. Margaret's and county of Caroline. Know that I the said Joseph Woolfolk for divers good 
causes considerations to me hereunto moving but more especially for and in consideration of the 
natural Love and affection I have and bear unto my grandchildren (that is to say) David Bibb, 
Thos Bibb, Sally Bibb & Lucy Bibb and my daughter Elizabeth Bibb Do give and grant and confirm 
unto the above said David Bibb, Thos. Bibb, Sally Bibb & Lucy Bibb after the death of my 
daughter Elizabeth Bibb two negro girls named Dinah and Hanah to them and their heirs to be 
equally divided between them the said negroes being given unto my daughter and grand children 
for and towards their maintenance and lively hood and to no other purpose whatsoever, Chas 
Bibb, the husband of the said Elizabeth Bibb having no property in the above said premises. To 
have and to hold the above sd negroes to their own proper use and behoof forever freely and 
Quietly without any claim or demand of me, the sd Joseph Woolfork or any other person or person
whatsoever.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of April 1768.

At a court held for Louisa county ye 13th day of June 1768 This deed of gift was this day in 
open court proved to be the act and deed of Joseph Woolfork by the oaths of Natha Garland and 
William Bibb. Witnesses thereto and by the court ordered to be recorded.
