Soldier, 7th Virginia Regiment
Louisa County, Hanover County

  I do certify that James Davenport enlisted in the 7th Virginia Regiment under 
Captain Matthew Jouett in which company he served as an officer on the 15th 
Feb'y 1776 and served till the 15 Feb'y 1778 then discharged on account of his 
wounds.  Robert Jouett

**document on examination too small writing but got the following information: 
Injured at the Battle of Brandywine: considerable injury to the ankle and 
extension of foot is contracted-withering of the foot and leg, hit by a ball, 
appeared to be about 28 years of age.  W. Foushes  June 22, 1786--note to Wood, 
Governor included whereby Foushes recommended him for pension

Received 6 pounds yearly
