VA WB 9, p. 133 In the name of God amen I Jane alias Lucy Langston do hereby make this my last will and testament. 1st I give and bequeath to my children William and Harriet two thirds of my estate both real and personal to be equally divided between them. 2nd I give and bequeath to my friend Mr. William D. Gooch in trust for my daughter Mary who has intermarried with John Wilson one third of my estate both real and personal to be applied to the benefit of her and her children as he may think most advisable. 3rd I appoint my friend Mr. William D. Gooch my executor to transact all my business in Ohio and my friend Mr. Nathaniel Mills my executor to transact all my business in Virginia and give my executor in Virginia full power to sell all my estate both real and personal and every part thereof and divide the proceeds among my children William and Harriet and my friend William D. Gooch as trustee as aforesaid. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 15th Feby 1834. Signed sealed and delivered in presence of John Ellis Jno R Quarles David Thomson her Lucy X Langston Mark In Louisa County Court June 10th 1834 The last will and testament of Jane alias Lucy Langston dec’d was this day partly proved in open Court by the oath of John Ellis a witness thereto and continued for further proof. And in Louisa County Court July 14th 1834 the said will was further proved by the oath of David Thomson another witness thereto and by the Court ordered to be recorded. Teste John Hunter CLC In Louisa County Court August the 12th 1834 On the motion of Nathaniel Mills the executor named in the last will and testament of Jane alias Lucy Langston dec’d who made oath as the law requires and together with John Graves his security entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of two thousand dollars conditioned according to law a certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of said will in due form.
